Job Description

The CFO is a key role on the leadership team who will own financial planning and accounting for the company.  As the senior finance member and gatekeeper of the performance of the business, this position plays an important business partner role in the development, assessment, and execution of financial activities relating to the overall business plan and in the delivery of financial objectives.  The role is accountable for establishing and delivering the business's key financial metrics, including growth, earnings, and cash.  In addition, this role is accountable for creating a high-performance culture and leading the development and engagement of associates.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role will be instrumental in providing financial leadership to enable our ambition to triple the business and serve as a thought leader on the leadership team.  This is a highly impactful role that will have a direct influence on the success of the business and takes responsibility for the Finance team of 3 associates managing an 8 figure budget.  They will be responsible for all financial and management accounting, AP/AR, working capital, governance, and statutory compliance at PBI.  They will create insights on financial performance, co-create business plans, challenge/review assumptions, spot opportunities & risks, and ensure sustainable value creation.  This position ensures that customers and internal clients respect the policies and terms of sale established and that investments are utilized as effectively as possible. 

The candidate must have CPG experience, ideally in the Food and Beverage insurgent brand space.  The role can be based from anywhere in the US with the expectation of travel for key external and internal meetings (up to 40%).

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide insight to the business for the creation, development, and delivery of the Operating Plan targets in terms of Growth, Earnings, and Cash.
  • An active member of the Tasty Bite Leadership Team bringing an enterprise mindset and providing leadership and insight beyond the Finance function.  A key strategic partner to the General Manager.
  • Provide leadership and financial expertise to create additional value while safeguarding company assets. Create monthly and quarterly financial communication for all stakeholders along with the ability to communicate across functions up and down the organization.
  • Develop 3-year plans and associated financial strategy and implementation for both business of today and business of tomorrow while aligning Tasty Bite management team and key stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team to drive the Tasty Bite culture, goals, and objectives through the organization.  Identify and develop associates for a strong Finance talent pipeline.
  • Ensure proper financial governance and business processes are effectively implemented. Deliver timely closure and reporting of monthly results along with analysis of monthly financials with approved budgets and reasons for variance. 
  • Bring entrepreneurial mindset with excellence in execution. 
  • Ensure that Tasty Bite is relevant and active externally by taking a leadership role in senior-level sales trade meetings and industry association meetings to support our objective of being a customer-focused organization.

Experience

10+ years of diversified financial management experience and involvement in the financial aspects of a consumer products business.  Preferably in Food CPG with a proven track record of driving double-digit growth.

Minimum of a BA/BS plus CPA

FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES

  • Demonstrated understanding of financial control systems and financial statement preparation, balance sheet, and P&L.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and in-depth understanding of business/financial interrelationships between sales strategies, pricing, volumes, and cost structures.
  • Cost Accounting and Budget Management - Understanding of internal cost structures and practices. Understand the relationship between different costs and cost drivers. Ability to drive cross-functional teams to deliver cost reduction programs.
  • Analysis and Evaluation of Business Activities - Advanced expertise in the areas of Competitor Analysis and Benchmarking, Trend Analysis/Modeling and Evaluation, and Scorecarding/Metrics.
  • Statutory Accounting - The knowledge and application of Mars, Incorporated Accounting Policies and Principles, U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, applicable local government regulations, and Mars, Incorporated transaction processing systems to meet business reporting requirements to provide timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
  • Financial Control - The knowledge and application of business processes, internal control concepts and practices, and auditing techniques to ensure cost-effective protection of business assets and approval of business activities at the appropriate level in the organization.
  • Well-developed organization skills to manage multiple projects and priorities. Strong analytical capabilities coupled with the ability to identify issues, obtain mutual agreement as to the resolution, and implement change.
