As Chief Economics Advisor, you will lead our Economics and Research portfolio. Planning, overseeing and delivering a significant programme of work, you will bring an enterprising and inclusive approach to leading a group of multi-disciplinary teams. Widely respected as lead economic advisor across our strategic and regulatory activities, you will drive forward high quality economic research, analysis, advice and assurance to support crucial policy development work.
Our Executive Committee and CEO, along with the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority Board and its chairman, will rely on your expert economic advice and insight on policy matters. We will look to you to represent and champion Ofgem across Government and the energy sector.
To join us, you will need proven expertise and leadership experience in regulatory economics, ideally in the utilities of energy sector. Strong quantitative and qualitative economic analytical skills equip you to analyse complex situations and policy decisions. You also have a flair for assessing and managing risk in complex projects. We expect you to have led a successful economics team, developed ways of working, and provided strategic and technical economic advice at board level.

As the Economic Regulator for the energy sector in Great Britain, it is vital that regulatory policy is underpinned by sound economic advice and reasoning to ensure decisions are robust in supporting the net zero transition whilst protecting the interests of consumers. As such, we are looking to recruit a high-quality economic advisor to lead Ofgem’s Economics and Reserve portfolio. You will lead a group of multi-disciplinary teams under the Economics and Research portfolio in the context of operating in a Professions and Flexible Resourcing operating model and plan, oversee and deliver a significant programme of work on time, on budget and to a high standard through effective management and support of multiple teams all whilst demonstrating exceptional inclusive people and enterprise leadership, ongoing professional development and commitment to Ofgem values.

• Delivery of a significant programme of work in the Economics and Research portfolio, managing and co-ordinating successful outcomes across teams, Ofgem and professions.
