Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.


Brief overview of the business areas

The Technical Domains Architecture team sits within Technology Architecture, providing: strategy, standards, reference architectures and guidance for the following areas:

Application Architecture

Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture

Cyber Architecture

Data Architecture

 

This role is a part of the Technical Domains Architecture team

 

What you will be doing;

 

HSBC’s Technology Strategy is built on 3 key themes: Speed, Scale & Resilience.  The primary area of accountability of the Chief Architect for Resilience is to lead, define and embed the Technology Resilience strategy across IT.

 

This role will lead and own the architecture for resilience in all aspects of Technology:

  • Defining the strategy for Technology Resilience within HSBC
  • Taking the lead on the enterprise-wide Technology Resilience Framework
  • Working with Tech Domains Architecture teams to embed resilience into standards and patterns
  • Bringing industry best practice for resilience to HSBC.  Stay abreast of technology trends and advise Technology and the business about potential benefits/impacts
  • Supporting the migration of services to more resilient architectures
  • Driving greater adoption of resilience standards and tooling
  • Leading the selection & adoption of observability tooling to improve service quality & uptime
  • Driving greater maturity of observability in technology

 

The role will be accountable to the Technical Domains design authority for technology decisions and leadership specific to Technology Resilience strategy

Qualifications

 

Essential Skills/Experience

 

  • Technology Resilience specialist, including industry best-practices on resilience
  • Full stack architect – application, infrastructure, security, data.
  • Enterprise Architect with the ability to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement. 
  • Ability to provide technical thought leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption. 
  • Enterprise mindset, straight through processing, automation
  • DevOps, DevSecOps strategy and tooling
  • Understanding of multiple technology platforms
  • Software development lifecycle, including testing & deployment lifecycle and tools used across technology platforms
  • On-premise and cloud technologies

These roles will primarily be London site based at our Head Office in Canary Wharf but some travel may be required.
