Colgate-Palmolive invites applications for a Chemist position based at our Morristown, TN location.
Our Chemist is responsible for performing physical and chemical testing in support of the site Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program. The lab operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This position will be from 5 pm to 5 am. on a 2-2-3 schedule.

Perform physical and chemical testing of raw material, packaging material, in-process and finished product in accordance with standard procedures. Approves materials and products based on test results.
Collect and analyze test data to identify root cause, draw conclusions and recommend actions
Participate in failure investigations to identify root cause and recommend corrective and preventive actions
Acquire basic knowledge of plant floor operations and equipment
Apply appropriate methodologies and data interpretation techniques to assist in overcoming difficulties and promote continuous improvement.
Maintain the laboratory quality assurance systems to assure validity of data
Perform or assist vendors in the installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ) and performance qualification (PQ) of laboratory instruments and equipment. Conducts lab verification of instruments
Maintain accurate, up to date and concise laboratory notebooks and records
Use laboratory safety equipment and understand precautions in handling reagents and disposal of chemical waste according with local environmental regulations
Troubleshoot basic instrument problems
Develop in depth knowledge of how to operate analytical instruments and other standard laboratory equipment relevant to job responsibilities
Understand and accurately follow written lab procedures, global methods, local methods and published standard sources
Develop in depth knowledge of how to calibrate and maintain analytical instruments and the use of analytical reference standards relevant to job description
Maintain awareness of regulatory and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements relevant to job responsibilities
Prepare positive release documentation including analytical lab reports and certificates of analysis
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field
A minimum of 0-6 months experience in an Analytical lab, or pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetic or consumer products industries
Proven proficiency in laboratory skills training in chemistry
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
The manufacturing site operates 24/7 on a 2-2-3 schedule
Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment
Strong multitasking skills in a fast paced, changing environment
