The Role

The Chapter Leader- Ops Transformation will be a development manager that directs a team of software developers and analysts in the Fidelity Workplace Investing group. You will partner closely with business, operations & engineering teams to implement solutions that will help modernize the applications that support the workflows which automates our operational business processes. This role includes technical as well as people leadership and ownership of technical solutions delivered by the team.

 

The Expertise and Skills You Have

Bachelor's degree, with a focus in Computer Science or Information Technology

15 years of experience in Engineering and technology leadership in the IT/financial services industry

At least 5 years of people management experience including hiring decisions, performance management, establishing performance goals, and providing mentoring and feedback

Experience in programming using Java/J2EE stack, API/microservices development, UI technologies like angular, API development and cloud

Champions standard methodologies for various aspects of engineering excellence like CICD, design reviews, code reviews, unit testing, test automation across technology stack

Experience in building and leading Agile technology delivery teams

Work with Product Owners/Squad Leaders on work prioritization based on business and technology needs

Experience in Web/cloud application engineering and design preferably Azure

Capable of partnering with and influencing individuals at all organizational levels

Experience in DevOps, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery principles

Knowledge of system development methodology, project management, leadership and analytical/problem solving skills

Your collaborative working style with good interpersonal and relationship management

Your ability to understand business challenges and objectives and guiding the team to translate those into a design

Your excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and leadership skills

Your ability to learn and develop expertise in new tools and products

Leadership to a team of full-time employees and contingent workers across squads that work on multiple software development projects, TLM initiatives, application maintenance and production support

Ensuring chapter talent composition aligns with strategic business priorities including workforce planning vital to provide increased value and results for clients and the business

Supporting and empowering chapter members, to enable delivery of increased value in their teams

Actively sharing insights, knowledge, industry practices and developments across the organization

Proactively partner with chapter area, domain, center of excellence, and squad leaders to:

Influence strategic backlog and prioritization decisions related to your chapter

Measure performance through established objectives and critical metrics and deliver agreed upon business, technology, and people results

Align chapter members across squads and product areas to ensure the best utilization of talent while also building learning opportunities and learning day content to develop skills

Set and apply standards and ensure the work performed is aligned with established road maps

 

The Team

The WI Operations Modernization Chapter consists of a team of technologists and BPM experts, dedicated to modernizing and transforming the systems that run Fidelity Workplace Investing’s operations. We focus on building cloud-based applications to modernize legacy software that run our operations, build workflows that run our operational business processes and support the migration of our legacy workflows to a modern BPM platform.
