DIT secures UK and global prosperity by promoting and financing international trade and investment. We are one of the few international economic departments in Whitehall.

DGET has established a new transformation programme for its export support services. The Export Support Service Programme will deliver a single integrated system of support to help UK businesses export, bringing together multiple services under one global Export Support Service offer that enables UK business to sell to the world.

You will play a key role in delivering the programme successfully, as part of a new, growing programme team. This role sits within the Change Management Team, which is responsible for setting the strategic direction for delivering change activities across the whole of the Export Support Service.

You will join a friendly and supportive team which currently comprises of the Grade 6 Head of Change Management Team, two G7 Change Managers and an HEO Change Advisor.

We will hold a reserve list of candidates to fill roles that are the same or very similar roles for 12 months. Please note that once on the reserve list, if you refuse the offer of two roles you will be removed from the reserve list.

Job description

Key Accountabilities

We are looking for an excellent Change Lead to support us to deliver the Export Support Service Programme. You will be responsible for:

• Supporting the delivery of a clear vision for change in identified programmes and projects, including championing the use of best practice business change management frameworks (including standards, tools and processes).

• Stakeholder engagement with key contacts, ensuring artifacts from the change management framework are used appropriately. In some roles this will also involve managing the change communications and messaging for internal DIT staff.

• Design and delivery of ‘people related’ change activities throughout the project lifecycles. These activities include, for example, stakeholder mapping and engagement, change impact assessments, change readiness activities and supporting leaders with change.

• Carrying out data-gathering with stakeholders via a range of activities including workshops, interviews and secondary research.

• Analysing data to inform decisions on people, culture and behaviour change needs and requirements for successful delivery.

• Monitoring and reporting on progress against the change plan to relevant governance structures.

• Contributing to Directorate development by knowledge sharing, helping with change resource development and role modelling best practice.

The role will be based in either Darlington or London. You will be asked to express a location preference during the application process.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.

DIT will cover travel costs/expenses to any office which is not your usual office location in line with departmental expenses policy. DIT will not cover commuting costs to your agreed office location.

Appointments will be made to candidates in merit order based on location preferences.
