Job Description

Purpose of the role:

This role is required to undertake support duties, under the direction of the Central Property Store Manager, to fulfil the contractual requirements of the Cleveland PFI Property Handling service. Additionally, this role is to provide a customer focussed service to Cleveland Police Officers and officials, third party agents and members of the public in relation to seized evidence, lost and found property and evidential recorded material.

The role will be based at the Central Property Store, at Middlesbrough HQ, but will require frequent travel to other locations in the Cleveland area to undertake duties related to the collection and distribution of property at designated locations.

The role operates on a daytime shift basis with some weekend working required.

Job Description:

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for the receipt, storage and disposal of property whilst retained in the central property store or in transit to or from it to a main force HQ or Town Office or authorised point of sale or disposal.
  • Ensure that property is only disposed of, destroyed, return to owner, or sold via an authorised auction property on the authorisation of Cleveland Police
  • Responsible ensuring all items of property are accurately recorded on the IRIS property software system, the whereabouts of each item being known at all times.
  • Responsible for collecting and delivering items of property between the central property store and a main force HQ and/or town office on a daily basis.
  • Report to the Tascor Central Property Store Manager and/or PFI Facilities Manager but on occasions will need to act on their own initiative in order to maintain the highest standard of service.
  • Ensure that any monies/cheques received from the sale of property will be transferred to Cleveland Police under agreed procedures.
  • Carry out any additional tasks as requested by the Central Property Store Manager or PFI Facilities Manager.
  • Lift collect store and deliver items of property in accordance with safe manual handling procedures
  • Provide copies of audio/video tapes and CD/DVDs as requested.
  • The service will be provided to achieve the identified Key Performance Indicators applicable to the Central Property Store.
  • Provide levels of service quality that support Cleveland Police’s operational objectives.
  • A positive responsive service within agreed timescales
  • Maintain an integrity and continuity audit trail of each item of property recorded on the IRIS system.
