Job Description

The Category Manager is responsible for providing category intel and perspective to the Amazon team to identify specific impacts to plan. This role is critical in linking category, marketplace, competitive and customer trends and insights to how we manage Amazon's business with the intention of making recommendations to the Account team to improve performance. 

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
  • 3+ years experience in Consumer Packaged Goods sales or combination of sales, marketing or analytics preferred
  • 1+ year of Amazon experience with an understanding of the digital category management process preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of category management processes
  • Demonstrated ability to package multiple data sources/inputs into cohesive story
  • Successful track record partnering with Sales Team or Customer to sell in recommendations
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders using data/insights and effective storytelling
  • Experience translating centralized insights, best practices or frameworks into strategic customer action plans

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Responsible for leading customer search insight work – directing analysts on mining available databases and tools to identify trends, opportunities and headwinds
  • Sets strategic approach to shelf management and provides recommendations on how best to execute using data inputs from analysts
  • Leads variation strategy, oversees performance effectiveness measurement and influences execution
  • Sets strategic priorities for Amazon search insight work and partners with Category team mates for relevant inputs
  • Leads competitive shelf intel – responsible for approach to weekly monitoring and impact of changes to competitive assortment
  • Oversight of how data from above is used to develop clear, concise POV for account team in weekly & monthly account reviews
  • Leads packaging content and developing story for Amazon Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Identifies deeper dive topics for learning, shares POV/impact to business in Monthly Business Reviews
  • Leads how we package and share relevant insights and/or opportunities to influence eContent & Brand Management Teams innovation pipeline
  • Oversees PDS implementation and measurement approach and provides learnings back to PDS & eContent teams quarterly 
  • Leads development of Storefronts customer sell stories by partnering with Account & Category team to solicit relevant inputs
