Location: Greater London House, Mornington Crescent, London

Level: Core

Reports to: Senior Finance Manager

The hours:  

9.00am – 5.30pm (Monday to Thursday)

9.00am – 5.00pm (Friday)

A bit about the Team:

Our finance function operates at the heart of ASOS. Say goodbye to preconceptions of bean-counters and hello to a multi-functional, business facing department. Our finance team controls the cash within the business and provides support to the business to help it make decisions to lead us to being a global online fashion destination.

This role sits in the Customer Journey team within Financial Accounting. We ensure appropriate accounting treatment and robust financial control environment across the Customer Journey related areas, spanning from a customer placing an order on the website, purchasing and redeeming a gift card or voucher, sending a return back to ASOS and receiving a refund. The main focus for this role is working alongside other Cash Analysts to reconcile the Group’s many bank accounts to ensure we are accounting for our cash figure correctly. This role interfaces with other areas of finance, including Treasury, FinTech, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Tax and Commercial Finance.

 The Role:

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform weekly bank statement uploads for 100+ bank accounts
  • Download and format daily settlement reports for 10+ acquirers
  • Perform weekly reconciliations of a subset of our bank accounts (20+ multi country/currency bank accounts)
  • Complete matching of cashbook entries to bank statement within cash reconciliation tool ReconArt
  • Calculation and posting of FX, chargebacks, and transaction costs for the Group
  • Reconcile intercompany transfers between companies with different functional currencies
  • Monthly reconciliation of intercompany accounts
  • Update and maintain detailed process notes  
  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager in the implementation and maintenance of robust month end processes and internal controls to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business
  • Preparation and maintenance of robust and accurate balance sheet reconciliations to an auditable standard
  • Assist in the interim and year end audit process with preparation of information for external auditors
  • To assist in any other ad hoc projects as required by the Senior Finance Manager to ensure that objectives and deadlines are met

What Success Looks Like:

  • Month end reporting delivered accurately and in line with agreed monthly/quarterly/annual timetables
  • All balance sheet reconciliations prepared in accordance with agreed timetable and of required standard
  • Maintain a good level of accounting knowledge, ensuring correct treatment of all areas of responsibility
  • Flexibility with an ability to turn around analysis requests quickly

Skills and experience you will need:

Experience

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Accounting or finance degree preferable but not required
  • Proficient knowledge of mathematics, finance or accounting fundamentals
  • Experience in reconciling multi country/currency bank accounts preferable

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail with a high standard of accuracy
  • Organisational skills – ability to organise & work to tight deadlines
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to rapid change and deal with volumes of information
