Position Description


Works with various design groups throughout the company to support the operation of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process and the Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) management.  Develops and trains user community in CAD standards and supporting CAD data management procedures within the PLM system.
Designs components or tooling, assemblies and concept models. Prepares basic layouts and designs for engineering customers. Ensures proper use of modeling techniques and design standards.  Writes and completes Engineering Change Notices (ECN) as required.



Job Responsibilities


  1. Creates/updates/maintains engineering 2D drawings, layouts and 3D models that follow standard practices using the Engineering Change system.
  2. Provides day-to-day CAD and PLM support, guidance, training, upgrading software, and troubleshooting.
  3. Assist in major CAD upgrades/updates/introductions including installations and support of CAD applications on Windows environment.
  4. Assist in implementing & enforcing company-wide standardization & procedures that enables all CAD users to perform job duties the same to maintain integrity of the PLM.
  5. Works with the PLM Administrator and Engineering Change Manager to ensure the proper use of CAD data storage, file management and associated workflows.
  6. Utilize continuous improvement strategies to improve internal process designs, operating efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction in the PLM user community.
  7. Attends CAD user group meetings and delivers user training and presentations on new systems and upgrades
  8. Develop and maintain documentation associated with CAD best practice procedures through core user group interaction and feedback.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
     


Job Skills Requirements


  • Knowledgeable with AutoCAD, Draftsight, Solidworks, Creo and Teamcenter PLM software systems preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with global internal and external customers from Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement and Operations teams.
  • Functional knowledge of research, product innovation, manufacturing, compliance and change request management.
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location.


Education


Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements


Minimum three years of Mechanical Design and PLM experience (May include co-op/internship experience)
