What you'll be doing

  • An aptitude to apply existing skills & experiences to the private sector
  • Good IT skills including knowledge of Excel
  • An ability to manage workload & deadline pressures
  • Excellent communication skills relevant to both dealing with clients, local authorities and internal colleagues
  • Keen attention to detail in all aspects
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a small & wider team

What we are looking for

  • To approve and code business rate demands against GL Hearn Information Management System (GLHIMS), various web databases and client property records
  • To resolve queries by obtaining accurate information from relevant parties where rates bills are not approved
  • To negotiate with Billing Authorities to verify and correct matters relating to occupation, rating list entries and exemptions and reliefs
  • To produce instalment reports and refund processing from system generated reports for client at agreed intervals from GLHIMS
  • To produce other reporting which may be required in excel format
  • To identify added value opportunities relating to empty rates mitigation, Rating List appeals and historic rates audit activities and to liaise with internal GL Hearn teams as appropriate to drive rate savings for clients
  • To deal with internal queries in respect of rates bills and other Business Rates matters as required
