Amazon has the world’s most complex supply chain: we fulfill global demand for hundreds of millions of products at lightning fast delivery speeds. We need your skills to optimize our supply chain, with the end goal of delighting our customers. A core part of the supply chain operations is Demand Forecasting: We forecast the demand of tens of millions of products. These forecasts are used to make many decisions, such as automatically order hundreds of millions worth of inventory, decide where to place that inventory, and establish labor plans for hundreds of warehouses.
We are looking for a Business Intelligence Manager to lead a talented team of Business Intelligence engineers in Demand Forecasting. You mission will be scale our Business Analytics and Intelligence operations and enable partner teams and customers to optimize supply chain decisions to enable marketplace expansion. You will do this by scaling our data infrastructure, enabling self-service analytics for internal customers, identifying problems and generating metrics and insights. You will have the resources and tools to help you deliver this mission - support from partner teams like Data Engineering/Data Science/Program, rich datasets and tools like AWS Redshift and Tableau.
A successful candidate will be customer obsessed - the Forecasting org has 50+ unique customers. You will need to balance long-term thinking with short-term actions. You will be comfortable navigating an ambiguous environment, know how to confirm and reconfirm assumptions, and be able to harmonize disparate points of view.
Key job responsibilities
- Build internal and customer-facing dashboards to provide metrics and convey insights which highlight forecast performance and explain variance
- Develop solutions that utilize the highest standards of analytical rigor and data integrity
- Partner with data scientists, data engineers, product managers and program managers, to build and productionize forecasting micro-models; perform analysis to identify the root cause of issues and generate actionable insights to guide the appropriate solution
- Engage stakeholders in constructive dialogues to convert business problems into logic problems that can be solved with data, statistics, and scripting
- Manage and execute entire projects or components of large projects from start to finish including project management, data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations
- Mentor junior team members by coaching them on the analytics lifecycle, including identifying the optimal analytical method, building and automating the solution, and generating insights from the results

- Coach and develop a talented Business Intelligence Engineering team
- Engage regularly with customers to identify and prioritize forecast improvement opportunities
- Define and deliver a long-term vision to solve the customer's problems and improve forecast accuracy
- Lead the definition and governance of key business metrics, and engineer data-driven processes that drive business value
- Create and foster an environment that values and promotes an inclusive approach to problem solving and continuous learning
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- MS in Math, Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Finance or related field or a BA/BS in a related field and 10+ years of experience with data analysis, reporting, and predictive modeling
- Experience in data visualization
- Experience in managing analytical projects end-to-end
- Strong verbal and written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
- Experience in Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders and senior management
- Experience in developing automated business intelligence systems, preferably using Tableau
- Proficiency in at least one statistical software package such as R, Python, Stata, or Matlab
- Familiarity with supply chain management concepts including forecasting, planning, and optimization
