Amazon Advertising is at the intersection of the Retail e-commerce and the Advertising worlds. It is an interesting time to work here, as the business skyrockets, and the world awakens to Amazon's Advertising potential. We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer who will support this growth by providing data driven customer and performance insights across our web, mobile and video advertising programs. This highly visible and strategic role will require you to be passionate about dealing with ambiguous business problems and using your critical thinking and analysis to influence Amazon business decisions. To be successful in this role you will need to be able to deal with ambiguity, be effective at cross-team collaboration, and passionate about using data to drive decisions. You will need to be savvy about leveraging large data sets and using a broad range of statistical, data mining, and scripting technologies. Responsibilities for this role include:
* Lead some of the Amazon Advertising business intelligence efforts
* Analyze large amounts of historical advertising and business datasets to develop strategic insights or solve key advertising client business problems.
* Partner with software engineering and product management teams to support analytical product development, impact measurement and adoption of innovative new features for the platform.
* Develop and leverage innovative measurement techniques to understand and influence levers for our performance advertising product.
* Track general business activity and provide clear, compelling reports and presentations on a regular basis.
* Scale data insights across EU and International advertising markets
* Building simple tools that can be used by other Marketing and Program Manager team members towards meeting strategic team goals.
* Communicate with internal teams to showcase results and identify best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Statistics or related discipline
* 5+ years of professional experience in web analytics, business analysis or comparable analytics position.
* Experience in designing and implementing custom reporting systems by managing or guiding technical teams.
* Experience with MS Excel, Access and SQL/SAS
Preferred Qualifications:
* MBA or Master’s degree in an analytic field is desired.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and generate innovative solutions in an extremely fast-paced environment.
* Comfort with or exposure to basic statistics: significance tests, regression * Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting.
* Basic scripting in Python, Hive and Pig
* Strong SQL and Excel expertise to access and transform data into insights.
