Our EU Retail business is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to step-change our marketing and customer experience insights capabilities and drive long-term customer growth and engagement. As a Business Intelligence Engineer joining the EU Hardlines Customer Insights & Analytics Team, you will use your deep analytical skills and partner with cross-functional marketing, product, tech and business teams to grow customer lifetime value across a wide range of products.
To be successful in this role, you must have a high capacity to Learn and Be Curious adapting to the latest changes in the business, systems, tools, and techniques for extracting, processing, analyzing, modeling, and acting on data. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, consistently think in terms of automation, and intensely detailed with a strong customer focus to drive strategy in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision. The ideal candidate shows good judgment in making technical trade-offs between short term and long-term business needs and demonstrate the ability to drive issues to completion.

Key job responsibilities

As a BIE on our team you will focus on exciting and challenging problems. Key responsibilities include:
• Applying your deep analytic and business intelligence skill to extract meaningful insight from large and complicated data sets
• Engaging business stakeholders in constructive dialogues to convert business problems into logic problems that can be solved with data, statistics, and/or scripting
• Designing, developing, and implementing scalable, automated infrastructure for data extraction, processing, computation, and delivery
• Designing, developing, and implementing analytical models using statistical methodologies and techniques
• Generating reports in QuickSight, PowerBI and Excel to surface core business data and insights
• Communicating analytical outputs to business stakeholders with a focus on making clear core insights and actionable findings
• Effectively partnering and collaborating with UXR and BIE colleagues within the broader EU HL Customer Insights and Analytics cross-functional team
• Building an expert understanding of technologies and techniques required to build analytical solutions in the Amazon data eco-system. Upskilling in new areas as required for different analytical solutions.
• Help drive new initiatives and data integration projects

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science or related field or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience working with data and applied analytics
· Excellent communication (verbal/written) and data presentation skills and demonstrated ability to successfully partner with business and technical teams
• Basic/Intermediate proficiency in programming language (e.g., Python) for automation of data extraction/processing, statistical computation, and/or web scraping
• Advanced SQL knowledge for ETLM operations
• Experience with data visualization using QuickSight, Tableau, or similar tools
• Demonstrated ability to work with business and technical partners to define requirements and deliver against complex business questions
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives in a fast paced environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or related field
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience working with data and applied analytics
• Advanced experience with at least one statistical programming language such as Python, R
• Experience working with test/control methodology, time-series forecast, and/or machine learning techniques
• Experience working with AWS big data technologies (e.g., EMR, Redshift, S3, Glue, Kinesis and Lambda). Experience with S3 and Lambda is specifically preferred.
• Prior experience in Retail, Consumables, and/or Supply Chain Management industry
