Our Marketing & Business Development (“M&BDâ€) team in the UK & Ireland is recruiting a Business Development Associate (“BDAâ€) to support our work growing Bechtel’s infrastructure business. The role provides an opportunity for an ambitious professional to develop a skill set in business development and an understanding of the strategic, commercial and financial considerations that underpin effective winning of work. Position Summary
The Business Development Associate will work within the business development team supporting major initiatives and, in particular, providing support to, and working closely with, the Regional Business Development Manager. Internally, the BDA will hold responsibility for supporting key reporting and business development processes and, in particular, oversight of the regional pipeline of opportunities in liaison with the M&BD team. Externally, the BDA is regularly tasked with strategic analysis of new markets or opportunities and the development of sales material for prospective clients.
Typical Responsibilities
Leads on special assignments of an analytical or information-gathering nature for M&BD staff, assessing new potential markets or opportunities
Assists in the development of material for proposals or pitches
Assists in the preparation and monitoring of business development activity reports, screening reports and business unit pipeline updates
Maintains records of prospective projects and competitor information.
Supports members of the M&BD team as required to deliver the region’s growth targets
Engages with prospective clients as required
Skills and Qualifications
You do not need prior business development experience for this role, but you should have an interest in how to grow the business, strategy and commercials and a willingness to learn fast on the job. You will need:
Strong verbal and written communication skills to develop key messages and reports
Effectiveness in using tools such as powerpoint and excel to support communication and analysis
Good people skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others
Effective skills in research and analysis and a problem-solving mindset
