Job Description

  • ASOS TECH

ASOS Technology is going through an exciting period of transition and significant investment. This includes several strategic programmes to deliver fantastic technology and business solutions to boost our aspiring global growth plans following the past 20 years of providing the ultimate fashion experience for 20somethings.

Last year, we shipped 73m orders to our 20m (and growing) customers, processed 80m units of returned stock, and on our last Black Friday weekend, our systems processed over 1m orders, 42 every second at peak – pretty cool huh?

    ORDERS PLATFORM

Our Orders services are critical to the customer experience to ensure orders are processed and fulfilled as soon as possible after they hit the "PLACE ORDER" button. This includes Orders Intake, Payments, Delivery, Stock and Fulfilment and a whole host of dependent services. But it doesn't stop there. When customers want to know their order status or require a refund or replacement, our Order Details API provides the functionality for exposing that information in your account.

    BUSINESS ANALYSIS at ASOS

Business analysis is about more than just gathering requirements; at ASOS, you have a real opportunity to shape your team's strategy. As part of our DNA, not only do we encourage everyone to "look through our customer's eyes", exploring ways to improve the general customer experience, but we also treat quality as a first-class citizen, looking for ways to improve how we work and deliver. As a Business Analyst, you'll be a conduit between the business and Tech to ensure we're translating business requirements into new features and benefits for our customers, both internal and external.

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    What you should bring

    • Previous experience as a Business Analyst within Technology across the entire project lifecycle.
    • An appreciation of backend systems and the value generated by each service.
    • A passion for business process modelling (preferably BPMN) skills.
    • The ability to understand complex business flows and how changes can impact these.
    • Previous exposure to reporting tools and data concepts.
    • Appreciation of the business context, considering all perspectives, and being clear on the 'why'.
    • Previous involvement in significant cross-functional changes, working closely across multiple technology teams.
    • A strong problem-solving mindset, doing what it takes to solve the problem for the customer, internal or external.
    • A background of working closely with internal technical teams (engineers, quality assurance testers, solutions architects) and on projects spanning across multiple teams.

    What you could bring

    • An understanding of retail processes with exposure to retail teams and retail metrics.
    • Basic SQL knowledge of extracting datasets and performing fundamental data analysis.

    You'll get to

    • Work with our Orders development teams to define, prioritise and manage the teams' development backlogs with an agile mindset.
    • Work to deliver business changes across the entire project and product lifecycles, from initial discovery to launch and benefits realisation, driving forward new features for our customers.
    • Elicit, document and translate business requirements into accurate user stories that development teams can deliver.
    • Organise, direct or participate in ceremonies such as refinement, team stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and product demonstrations.
    • Ensure all functional changes have accompanying non-functional requirements clearly defined to ensure the service is fit for purpose, to deliver business value, with a keen eye on performance and security given the domain and volume of transactions it handles.
    • Review feedback on user stories delivered, demonstrate product deliverables, and share your team's success stories.
    • Working with stakeholders across the entire business to evaluate and document future proposals, working to influence the best outcome which aligns with business strategies.
    • Continually enhance your expertise in the Orders area and assess the potential impact of any changes, working to become a Subject Matter Expert.
    • Question the business assumptions on incoming requests so that the requirements and delivered solutions meet current and future needs.
    • Able to articulate technical pieces of work explicitly illustrating the business value.
    • Work closely with the Solution Architect on defining the technical deliverables.

    What's in it for you?

    • Truly unique and agile working environment surrounded by a diverse range of passionate experts, with three common interests: our customers, technology and innovation
    • Generous salary, bonus and pension-matching, life insurance, free private medical care, cycle to work scheme + much more
    • Bespoke flexible benefits scheme catered to your personal needs.
    • New and updated major life events policies for UK ASOSers, including pregnancy loss, reproductive health, exceptional leave and menopause

    • Tech Develops days – last Friday of the month dedicated to developing yourself and others around Tech, including external speakers and exclusive Microsoft training material.
    • Regular company-wide social events including sports days, charity days, 'Give A Week Away' opportunities to visit our charity partners in India, annual celebrations, to name just a few.
    • Huge staff discounts, sample sales and early access to exclusive partnerships
