Help to take people on a journey of change, from legislation to digital product.
Ofgem exists to ensure a safe, sustainable and affordable energy supply to the households and businesses of Great Britain. As the industry regulator we promote the highest standards of customer care and work with industry participants to be assured that our energy system and supporting infrastructure is safe, resilient and sustainable.
As a Business Analyst, you will join the division of Ofgem responsible for administering environmental schemes and consumer social programmes. These range from renewables incentives through to energy efficiency and social initiatives. Working closely with multi-disciplinary agile teams, third party development partners and a range of stakeholders both within and beyond Ofgem, you will help to deliver regulatory changes on our environmental scheme. Alongside product managers, QA testers and developers, you will help us to take new legislation through to a successful digital product, with a host of associated systems updates.
Supporting colleagues on a journey of change, you will take them through a structured process of engagement and process improvement. This will include requirements engineering and benefits realisation. Along the way, you will deliver process maps, wireframes, user stories and artefacts to support the project’s success. You will be instrumental in agreeing technical specifications, after having carefully analysed business requirements. We will rely on you to identify and analyse problems that may get in the way of change.
To join us, you will need an enquiring mind and the confidence not to accept assertions at face value. You will bring to the role an extensive track record in an agile, multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment, drawing on diverse analysis techniques and methodologies. While experience in the software development lifecycle is key, what really sets you apart is your way with people. You know how to manage and engage with stakeholders, learn the driving factors behind service users’ reported needs, and convey real business needs succinctly and accurately as user stories.
We are serious about the professional development and support we offer staff. You can also expect an excellent benefits package, great working environment, good work-life balance and a shared sense of purpose.
We welcome candidates from all backgrounds, and especially welcome individuals from underrepresented groups. While this is a full-time role, flexible working patterns and job shares are welcome.
Ofgem’s Delivery and Schemes division administer the Department for Business Energy and Industry Strategy’s (BEIS) environmental schemes and consumer social programmes. The delivery hub within the directorate is responsible for Strategic Change initiatives, Programme & Project Management, Process Improvements, Business Solutions and Technical Architecture.
