Digital Business Analyst

Purpose

• Understand the product vision and convey it to the development team

• Focus and guide the work of the sprint team

• Ensure the key stakeholders understand the relevant impacts on the business and IT so that changes are taken on smoothly

• To assist and advise the business in identifying and understanding changes required to meet their objectives, supporting them throughout the change lifecycle

Tasks and responsibilities

Delivery

• Own, define and elaborate stories on the iteration team backlog, including definition of functional and non-functional acceptance criteria

• Use a range of techniques such as workshop facilitation, document analysis, sites visits, use cases, scenario modelling, task and workflow analysis

• Ensure stories are concise, complete, specific, unambiguous and that they are aligned to the goals of the sprint, project and the business

• Support prioritisation of stories for sprints with the Product Manager

• Refine stories to a sufficient level of detail to allow appropriate implementation of solutions and testing

• Act as a proxy to the product manager and business as the key stakeholder / SME and decision maker

• Clarify questions on stories and acceptance criteria

• Participate in team demos, retrospectives, stand ups and relevant ceremonies

• Manage the scope and traceability of stories throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that they are understood by both the team and Product Manager

• Identify blocker, dependencies and any impacts (business, service solution etc)

• Design and model the to-be process, performing gap analysis and identifying areas for improvement, where required

• Assist with the identifying and managing of risks, issues and dependencies

o Decisive, must be able to make decisions quickly under pressure on behalf of other parties

o Ownership, will be accountable for product success from inception to delivery

o Excellent communicator, collaborator and “people person” capable of sharing a vision, aligning people, focusing efforts and motivating the team

o High emotional intelligence, will help to collaborate and steer the product development to a successful conclusion

o Able to manage conflict and maintain relationships

o Strong influencer, will be able to keep to the product vision in the face of different views

o Strong Motivator, development team will require energy and enthusiasm

o Experience of applying data and insight to inform decision making

o Analytical mind-set, with a passion for identifying and resolving issues and the ability to turn findings into actions

o Enjoy working in fast paced, high growth, high volume, multi-channel customer focused organisations

o Passion for emerging technologies and trends, with experience of exploiting these where applicable

Toolsets

Use toolsets as required e.g. JIRA and confluence

Test support

Support any queries and triage any defects raised throughout the test cycles

Release Management

Support release management and business cut over activities with the Product Manager

Experience

• Experience of managing products through their lifecycle from idea to delivery

• Proven experience in successfully delivering measurable business value through software or initiatives they have defined

• Expertise in delivering value from Agile methodologies

• Experience organising and enabling cross functional teams to deliver to tight deadlines working without line management responsibility

• Experience in writing clear and succinct user stories with explicit acceptance criteria that have led to successful delivery

• Experience in analysing and mapping business processes

• Good understanding of the commercial realities of digital retailing

• Ideally from a retail environment
