DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

Operations Effectiveness is a global function that provides senior management with business intelligence on productivity and performance, headcount, location strategy, expense management, budget forecasting and overall maintenance of corporate standards. Within this group, sits the Business Performance Measurement (BPM) team which focuses upon operation related metrics associated with drivers of work (Volumes) and manual touch points (MTPs).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

BPM team delivers strategic business intelligence across Institutional Client Group (ICG) Operations to measure and provide operational performance transparency. BPM caters to number of requirements and exists to produce a clear understanding of how people, costs, volumes, MTPs align to the activities for the businesses supported.

The successful applicant can expect to:

• Working closely with Operations group, senior stakeholders and provide solutions to their business needs.
• Be responsible for documenting data requirements, data collection / processing / cleaning, and exploratory data analysis which may include utilizing statistical models / algorithms and data visualization techniques
• Work with large and complex data sets to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business strategies
• Perform testing as per standard release timelines, store test results and ensure successful production implementation.
• Perform data mining, maintenance and reporting covering all ICG Operation businesses
• Identify process re-engineering opportunities, maintain procedural documentation stored in shared repositories
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

BPM is looking for a technically proficient business analyst who can apply themselves to a wide range of tasks and projects. They will need to manage and execute regular change type functions across the major themes described above in tandem with ongoing project work.

The candidate will need to bring a willingness to learn a broad spectrum of product knowledge, professional skills as well as garner a ‘roll up your sleeves attitude’ to ensure team deliverables.

High-end project management governance to track all projects is required with status updates to Senior Management an ongoing responsibility. In addition, the role will involve providing support to the end users of our reporting suite and therefore, interaction with all levels of the organisation.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter who can quickly comprehend unfamiliar processes and products, who works effectively in a global team, who possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills and who can handle changing priorities and deadlines within a multi-faceted project.

The candidate should have the following skills:

• 5 to 8 years relevant domain experience
• Experience leveraging complex data sets to create executive reports
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Ability to quickly grasp and master new requirements and subject matter
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong, creative problem-solving skills (analyze and troubleshoot reports/data to ensure accuracy).
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications including MS Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with visualization tools such as Micro Strategy as well as relational database knowledge, and an understanding of the data lifecycle and programming languages like SQL would be advantageous.

• Incumbents in this role may often be referred to as Data Scientists or Data Analysts.
