The Senior Director Corporate Strategy will play a vital role in assisting the organization’s look at short-and-long term opportunities to elevate Brunswick’s position as the global marine leader in the context of a fast-changing consumer, competitive, and technological environment. The position will report directly to the Vice President Corporate Strategy and will be located in Mettawa, Illinois, at Brunswick’s global headquarters.
Key activities and areas of responsibility include:
- Help established and actively manage a broad strategic agenda for the enterprise.
- Evaluates new market and growth opportunities – uncover and assess growth options to sustain top and bottom-line expansion.
- Lead strategic alternative analysis by providing senior leadership with recommendations to accomplish program objectives and execute strategic initiatives based off thorough research and analysis.
- Establish strategic context from which to prioritize analytics and insight work - guides priorities for these activities
- Assist with Corporate Development: prospects for direct investment or partnership opportunities that will advance the enterprise Autonomy, Connectivity and Electrification (“ACEâ€) agenda.
- Establishes external partnerships with industry, academic, and philanthropy contacts in order to increase innovation sourcing
- Identify and develop opportunities through mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, as appropriate.
- Scan the environment for threats and/or opportunities and creates an efficient system of providing real-time competitive intelligence and market trends; where appropriate and analyzes implications.
- Consult internally with key stakeholders to improve strategic outcomes.
- Lead the annual corporate planning process.
- Generate and effectively shape Board of Director level communication.
- Provide ad-hoc leadership and business level support (research, presentations, financial analyses, etc.).
Job Specifications & Profile:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required and an advanced degree is preferred.
- 7+ years related experience including work for or with industrial or consumer product companies participating in both B2B and B2C business models.
- Experience working with Senior Levels of Management in a large Public organization is required; experience at a management consulting company is preferred.
- Career achievements to include leading the evaluation and roadmap of transformational strategies with an emphasis on new product technology, digital transformation and / or contemporary direct to consumer models.
- Ideally, experience building an eco-system of strategic partnerships.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to shape strategic decisions into succinct deliverables for Senior Management and the Board of Directors (e.g., white papers, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and advance multiple high priority projects.
- Engaging interpersonal approach that inspires open dialogue and collaboration.
- In addition to a strong analytical and insight capability, the preferred candidate will have a strong record of providing innovative solutions to activate opportunities or overcome obstacles.
- Experience mentoring or leading strategy talent / teams.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
