POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Human Resources is a strategic business partner to the Brunswick Boat Group (BBG) Division President and the centralized BBG Leadership team.  This leader is accountable for Human Resources strategy design and implementation across the boat brands.    

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a high impact people strategy across the boat group business, partnering with the BBG executives and leadership team to define, develop and execute key strategic priorities that attract, develop and retain talent in the business.
  • Advise and coach BBG business leaders on talent and organizational effectiveness topics to achieve business objectives while also consulting on policy, culture, and legal issues impacting the division.
  • Possess a keen understanding of the business strategy, market factors, and financial position to influence leadership on people strategies that add value, notable to the business’s bottom line.
  • Coach and develop BBG HR Directors and their HR teams to shape short- and long-term people strategies that promote the highest level of employee and organizational performance for their brands, support the execution of job responsibilities at a high-performance level, and ensure professional development and career growth.
  • Promote and lead a vision for the future of the BBG contemporary workforce by developing and executing a lifecycle approach to people management focused on forecasting, staffing, development, on-boarding, performance management, retention, succession planning, talent movement, engagement, and leveraging workforce insights and analytics.
  • Focus on hourly employee strategies, notably compensation programs to ensure programs remain competitive and the business’ ability to attract top talent is sustained.
  • Passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion and accountable to shape how Brunswick programs and strategic initiatives will be successfully applied and advanced in the Boat Group.
  • Leverage workforce insights and analytics to assess and recommend solutions to various stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Driven to maintain a superior level of HR technical expertise, including tracking critical external trends and best practices that should be evaluated and implemented in the BBG business.
  • Provides direction and policy to ensure equitable and consistent treatment of employees across all boat group locations, in line with Brunswick company policy – and adapted where needed.
  • Lead all people-programs to drive BBG growth including: mergers or acquisitions, organic site expansion, or interactions with internal or external partners on various business models.
  • Member of the global HR leadership team (“HR Council”) providing input and guidance on enterprise people programs and overall enterprise strategic direction, including leading initiatives as delegated by HR leadership.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Human Resources, business or other related field
  • Master’s degree and HR certification desirable
  • 10 years of experience in Human Resources Management with evidence of career progression and managing teams
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Experience implementing and evaluating leadership and team building processes highly desirable
  • Experience with contemporary HR technology and a global workforce is preferred

  • Business & Financial Acumen: Strong business and financial acumen to understand, interpret and develop people actions to impact business and financial performance.  Capable of adding value as an integral member of the BBG Leadership team.   
  • Ability to drive impact:  Proven ability to build, lead, and deliver effective people programs, with measurable outcomes, being proactive to spot issues and have a bias for action to implement recommendations.
  • Transformational Leader: Transformational and change leader that has experience with change management principles, tools, and methodologies to drive lasting improvements in the organization.
  • Communication: Superior communication skills, with the ability to convey information to various levels of the organization from reports and presentations to senior management needed to make timely decisions, to shaping messages that inspire the workforce, to distilling complex facts into clear, concise, and actionable instructions where needed.  Must be able to articulate a vision while being direct and transparent about challenges.
  • Coach & Advocate:  Ability to counsel and guide senior leaders on people and leadership topics, while being an advocate of employees from both an internal culture and external brand value proposition standpoint.
  • People Leader: Ability to build teams, motivate them to accomplish goals, and lead through influence at all levels.
  • Consumer-oriented and creative: Service-oriented, flexible, agile, creative, highly organized and demonstrate strong work ethic.
  • HR Technical: Knowledge of global, federal, and local employment laws affecting employment, plus best practices in talent, leadership and learning management, and when to seek counsel from specialists.
  • Data-driven: Leverage HR metrics and ability to draw insights to enable informed decision making.
  • Energetic:  Energizing and engaging style, with comfort to adjust plans and thrives by operating in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
