GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Sets up, operates and monitors the Braid & Loom machines in continuous production/processing operations. Maintains a clean and safe work area. Eye and Ear protection required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under limited supervision, sets up, operates and monitors the Braid & Loom Machines n a continuous production/processing operation. Must possess an understanding of machine operations and perform complex or advanced machine functions where machine operation requires experience and technical knowledge. Starts machines to begin production runs. Performs extensive machine set up operations to prepare machinery for processing according to detailed drawings and specifications. May calibrate equipment following operating manuals. Monitors automated processing operations to assure adherence to production specifications; troubleshoots inoperative equipment and determines corrective measures necessary to make product acceptable. Visually inspects product and may perform tests to verify production/process conditions. May maintain documentation of completed work and related operating details. May separate and maintain logs of non-conforming products. May operate machines to generate first articles or prototypes under direction of samples. Loads parts and raw materials into machines, recording part numbers, sizes, quantities and other customer specifications. Cleans machinery between production runs. Performs routine maintenance, reporting any malfunctions to supervisor. Reads and interprets basic engineering drawings, MAI specifications, and operating procedures. Performs all work in accordance with plant safety policies and procedures. Maintains a clean and safe work area. Performs other duties as assigned. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Prefers 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Under general direction, working from policies and general directives. Rarely refers specific cases to supervisor unless clarification or interpretation of the organization's policy is required.
DECISION MAKING
Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance, either of which would affect the work operations of small organizational component and the organization's clientele.
MENTAL DEMAND
Moderate mental demand. Operations requiring almost continuous attention, but work is sufficiently repetitive that a habit cycle is formed; operations requiring intermittent directed thinking to determine or select materials, equipment or operations where variable sequences may be selected by the employee.
ANALYTICAL ABILITY / PROBLEM SOLVING
Moderately structured. Fairly broad activities using moderately structured procedures with only generally guided supervision. Interpolation of learned things in somewhat varied situations.

Probable errors would likely be detected until they reached another department or customer. Inaccuracy would result in extra effort to correct the situation.
