POSITION SUMMARY:

To increase productivity and reduce operations cost through the reengineering of the manufacturing processes.

The position is part-time, with a minimum of 20 hours per week (Monday-Thursday). The hours for this position will be flexible based on the candidate’s class schedule. Must be able to arrive before 6:00 AM to observe some processes.

This will be a 16-week role, with the opportunity to extend the internship further upon need and performance.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyzing manufacturing processes using engineering tools and techniques.

• Conducting different industrial engineering studies and analysis such as manpower forecasts, capacity analysis, resource leveling, etc.

• Assisting in the implementation and utilization of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and methodologies.

• Studying and analyzing variation in critical manufacturing processes.

• Maintain documentation on related studies and analysis.

• Performing related assignments as required.

• 3D-Modeling of plant layout to be used to assist in building layouts.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

Education:           Must possess or working towards a BS in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.  For intern/co-op program, will review all engineering related applications.

Attributes:          

• Effective project management, problem solving, team and interpersonal skills used to influence others to accomplish identified objectives.
  • Must have experience utilizing engineering tools and methods in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3D Model experience. (SolidWorks, NX,etc)
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, MS Project.
  • Simulation experience is a plus.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge or experience a plus.
  • Good communication, good people skills, able to work independently on assigned tasks within a quick-paced, fiberglass / resin environment.  Results orientated. 

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
