POSITION SUMMARY

In this position you will be responsible for supporting operations. At least 75% of your time will be spent on the shop floor observing process and conducting time studies.

The position is part-time, targeting 20 hours per week (Monday-Thursday). The hours for this position will be flexible based on the candidate’s class schedule. Must be able to arrive before 6:00 AM to observe some processes.

This will be a 16-week role, with the opportunity to extend the internship further upon need and performance.

ROLES AND RESPONSBILITIES

• Participate in time studies and analyze the data to identify opportunities.
• Identify waste throughout the campus.
• Develop standard work for operations.
• Establish professional working relationships with team members at every level of the business. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge/Education

• Minimum of 2 years towards a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, engineering technology or a related field.
• Must possess strong critical thinking skills.
• Strong math skills including statistics.
• Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
• Marine related experience preferred, however not required. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
