POSITION SUMMARY

The successful candidate will lead, motivate, drive results, and facilitate project management for the Boston Whaler Team. The Project Portfolio Manager is responsible for the on-time and on-budget delivery of assigned projects. Work to be accomplished through collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, prioritizes, and executes facility enhancements including offices to maximize the use of available space and improve production efficiency.
  • Track, analyze, and monitors energy and material consumption by performing site audits and conducting energy and sustainability analyses to identify opportunities to increase efficiencies, promote renewable resources, and minimize the social, environmental, and financial impacts of the organization’s operation.
  • Formulate action plans with defined objectives to support agreed upon projects and strategies.
  • Research, analyze, specify, and procure production equipment and/or fixtures to meet the capacity and capability requirements current and future.
  • Initiate, manage, and follow up on assigned capital projects; working closely with vendors, contractors, insurance and risk carriers, as well as Federal, State and Local agencies for compliance.
  • Responsible for leading cross-functional project teams to ensure the strategy, development and execution of facility enhancements, capital projects for production and production support areas are aligned to meet annual targets and deadlines.
  • Collaborates with Finance and ensures vendor selection policy and processes are followed.
  • Ensures timely completion of all applicable phases of facility and capital projects assigned
  • Project KPI report outs and tracking.
  • Consistently exhibits company values in all interactions with associates and customers
  • Must be willing to travel (minimum 10%).

Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Management required. Masters preferred.
  • Must have an excellent knowledge of engineering, design, technology, construction, and mathematics.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) is strongly preferred or must be willing to attain within 12 months of hire.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or experience is preferred.

Experience and Skills

  • 8-10 years of experience in a project management role including the ability to manage a varied and complex workload or experience in a relevant field such as construction, building services, or engineering.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of people management in a team-based environment. Strong coaching and leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate others and affect change.
  • Experience in strategic planning processes.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to communicate technical requirements effectively across multiple business areas.
  • Skilled in critical thinking; demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
  • Able to differentiate between conflicting priorities and issues to identify root cause.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively.
  • Experience in identifying risks to plans; knowledge and experience to quickly identify mitigation opportunities. Strong execution skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with risk carriers, Federal, State, and Local agency requirements including Environmental, State and Local building codes and permits.
  • Must have a proven track record of being able to influence and coordinate personnel and resources not within their immediate control.
  • Must be able to work extra hours or non-regular hours required to timely complete projects.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft office and Microsoft Project applications.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
