Job Description

  • Purpose of Position:

Improve overall Boston Whaler product quality by working closely with all Boston Whaler team members to drive quality at the source, and minimize resources required to achieve manufacturing goals with optimal quality levels.

Responsible For:

  • Perform in-process quality checks. Document and track results.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce quality defects, and material and labor variance associated with rework.
  • Communicate nonconformities to line personnel, Supervisors, and Value Stream Leaders. Work with team to identify root cause of issues and assist with leading action to resolve.
  • Document and facilitate employee training for work instructions, quality standards, inspection methods, boundary samples, poke yoke solutions, best practices, and other quality related initiatives.
  • Coach/ Mentor employees in Safety related procedures and best practices.
  • Assist VS in schedule attainment as necessary and perform manufacturing related job tasks when called upon.
  • QCIS data entry.
  • Assure parts are being trimmed/cut to the purchase order requirements
  • Perform Pre & Post capping audits to assure critical check points are within spec
  • Preform weekly KPR (Key Process Review)
  • Must follow proper procedures in the safe handling of hazardous wastes, which may be generated during the manufacturing process.

Scheduled Shift:

Monday - Thursday - 8AM-5:30PM

Friday 8AM-12:30PM

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Education:  Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Prefer college level coursework.
    • Experience: 1-2 years’ boat manufacturing experience
      • Must be able to read build documentation and process procedures
      • PC based software exp helpful. (Excel, Word)
      • Understanding of principles of Lean Manufacturing

Other Requirements:

  • Self-starter, high-energy individual who can work effectively with little supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong desire to focus on continuous improvement opportunities, and work diligently to implement.
  • Willingness to:
    • Learn inspection processes related to all BOSTON WHALER manufacturing departments
    • Work in an environment with fiberglass and dust particles
  • Position requires standing for 10+hr shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
