Position Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, & test parts/components on plant & production equipment
• Perform basic welding, fabrication, and machining tasks, as well as, read blueprints, drawing and plans.
• Troubleshoot and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment involving ammonia and other refrigerants. 
• Perform daily check of all refrigeration systems as required.
• Replace, repair and maintain all energy systems, boilers, ammonia systems, coolers, air compressors, HVAC systems and apparatus.
• Clean evaporators and condensers as scheduled, change recorder charts and maintain recording equipment.
• Monitor, repair, clean plant systems, water condensers, evaporators, dump traps, accumulators, sight glasses, filtration systems, etc.
• Keep mechanical equipment in good condition and working order
• Inspect machines and equipment to locate problems, replace defective parts, and make necessary adjustments to ensure a continuous production operation
• Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot plant & production equipment
• Use hand & power tools to remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, & test parts/equipment on plant & production equipment
• Perform electrical and/or pneumatic work on production machines as needed
• Maintain good housekeeping and GMP’s
• Responsible for maintaining food safety and quality
• Must be open to work seven days a week and extended shift schedules
• Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 year progressive mechanic experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Vocational tech training in machine maintenance a plus.
• Ability to work the scheduled/assigned days and hours including required overtime
• Regular attendance to ensure quality coverage requirements are met
• Carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds
• Ability to read and write English for completion of production/quality documents.
• Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and percentages
• Ability to communicate effectively with plant personnel to ensure production issues are addressed and resolved as quickly as possible
• Ability to problem solve when production/maintenance issues arise
• Familiar with and ability to use basic shop equipment, electric arc welder, plasma cutter, torch and basic hand tools
• Familiar with mechanical controls
• Electrical experience is a plus
