Position Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, & test parts/components on plant & production equipment
- Perform basic welding, fabrication, and machining tasks, as well as, read blueprints, drawing and plans.
- Troubleshoot and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment involving ammonia and other refrigerants.
- Perform daily check of all refrigeration systems as required.
- Replace, repair and maintain all energy systems, boilers, ammonia systems, coolers, air compressors, HVAC systems and apparatus.
- Clean evaporators and condensers as scheduled, change recorder charts and maintain recording equipment.
- Monitor, repair, clean plant systems, water condensers, evaporators, dump traps, accumulators, sight glasses, filtration systems, etc.
- Keep mechanical equipment in good condition and working order
- Inspect machines and equipment to locate problems, replace defective parts, and make necessary adjustments to ensure a continuous production operation
- Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot plant & production equipment
- Use hand & power tools to remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, & test parts/equipment on plant & production equipment
- Perform electrical and/or pneumatic work on production machines as needed
- Maintain good housekeeping and GMP’s
- Responsible for maintaining food safety and quality
- Must be open to work seven days a week and extended shift schedules
- Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year progressive mechanic experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Vocational tech training in machine maintenance a plus.
- Ability to work the scheduled/assigned days and hours including required overtime
- Regular attendance to ensure quality coverage requirements are met
- Carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to read and write English for completion of production/quality documents.
- Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and percentages
- Ability to communicate effectively with plant personnel to ensure production issues are addressed and resolved as quickly as possible
- Ability to problem solve when production/maintenance issues arise
- Familiar with and ability to use basic shop equipment, electric arc welder, plasma cutter, torch and basic hand tools
- Familiar with mechanical controls
- Electrical experience is a plus
