You will be:

• Responsible for maintaining and supporting the BI application environment

• Responsible for providing proactive analysis enabling the business to make swift business decisions

• Understanding data bases, data warehousing and setting up data structures as well as supporting data integration solutions within the Business Intelligence team

• Additional hours and on call as required to fulfil duties

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Service Operations

• Resolving and managing incidents and service requests received from the business

• Build an understanding of the business at a level of detail that enables the identification and resolution of critical issues

• Supporting the user base with their own reports and providing technical assistance to users including updating the microsite and any other associated literature

• Maintaining and governing reporting schedules and support these during UK office hours as well as at the weekend (in rotation with members of the BI team)

• Having an interest in going beyond the obvious, delving into the source and the definition in order to explain complex processes / data

• Educate and train users to use the BI Application environment and the data held within it to foster a self-sufficient and self-service environment

• Understand how data is turned into information and knowledge and how that knowledge supports and enables key business processes

• Working closely with users to help turn data into information and knowledge that can be used to make business decisions

• Providing data that is accurate, consistent and reliable and ensure the information is easily available to users. This can involve updating data held within Business Intelligence databases

• Working with users to determine priorities and understand key performance indicators (KPI). This includes working with business and development teams to design, develop and document dashboards, alerts and reports

• Helping, supporting and mentoring other individuals and teams within the function where applicable

Technical Skills

• A strong understanding of Microsoft applications – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio

• Experience in working with data to provide analysis and reporting using an operational or Business Intelligence tool set

• Knowledge of Macros and VBA (desirable)

• Experience in working with multiple data bases / data warehousing

• SQL select statements (DML) (desirable)

• Designing and developing reporting and dashboard solutions (desirable)

• Creating accurate report development estimates (desirable)

• Data warehousing concepts (desirable)

• Excellent logical, problem solving and numeracy skills

• Experience in IT and/or experience of management information analysis

• Previous experience in developing and maintaining BI application solutions (desirable)

• Broad understanding of emerging technologies within the BI space (desirable)

Minimum level of education or qualifications

• A degree in IT or related business topic (desirable)
