Position Description

Resident product engineer leading the design for manufacturability of Lithium-ion battery products.  Focusing on system integration and alternate assembly techniques to align the Vanguard battery product line with the organization\'s long range plan.  Responsible for coordinating various technical teams to execute the design, validation, and implementation of new battery products. 

Performs engineering tasks under minimal guidance that are varied and complex which require troubleshooting and interpretation of data, development of new test methods or procedures and are used for a variety of situations.  Plans, executes, and organizes detailed design development as part of  major projects of significant scope.

Job Responsibilities

1. Acting technical link between design engineering and manufacturing teams, supporting product driven requirements throughout assembly and quality activities
2. Conducts and/or specifies complex tests using advanced techniques to resolve customer concerns/problems; prepares technical reports based on results
3. Applies advanced computer-aided engineering analysis techniques to resolve customer concerns/problems
4. Adheres to new product development processes as it relates to concept analysis, business case, product development, pre-production and post launch steps; recommends methods of manufacture during the design of new products and design modifications or process changes based on cost/design studies
5. Modifies analysis techniques when necessary to solve more complex problems
6. Evaluates product failures using advanced engineering techniques
7. Compiles and analyzes test results; formulates conclusions and makes appropriate recommendations
8. Partners with project management, business units, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, etc.
9. Recommends improvements and/or modifications for sequence of operations, equipment utilization and related matters
10. Develops engineering test standards where applicable
11. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering concepts, practices and procedures and other internal engineering standards and systems
• Strong knowledge of engineering systems
• Strong knowledge of company and competitor’s products and technical abilities of suppliers
• Well-developed understanding of company processes and procedures including, but not limited to new product development process
• Excellent interpersonal skills  
• Strong written communication skills necessary for technical report writing
• Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education

Experience Requirements

• Five years of professional engineering experience
