Based in the heart of Langdale, we’re serving up something a little different at Sticklebarn; super tasty, planet-friendly food and drink, all in the name of a great cause – looking after the Lakes.
• People
We strive to put people at the heart of everything we do, from delivering exceptional service and experience for our visitors, alongside putting our team’s wellbeing at the forefront our operation. Our team are passionate individuals from all walks of life, with one shared aim, to look after the Langdale Valley and the Lake District: for everyone, for ever.
• Sustainability
Our food offer revolves around celebrating local produce, tenant suppliers and farmers, and our vibrant food & beverage team. We have a huge focus on sustainability, both in terms of our business but also of our environmental sustainability:
- Sticklebarn was the first hydro-powered National Trust property in the Lake District
- We work with consulting partners to calculate the carbon footprint of our menu.
Our ambition has only just begun on our sustainability journey, and we work with the Sustainable Restaurant Association to help guide us and provide our bi-annual sustainability rating as well as working with our internal colleagues in delivering a brand-new Ground Source Heat Pump in late 2022.
• The Offer
The past two years have afforded us the opportunity to adapt to the ever-changing F&B industry, and we made the brave decision to change our style of service in March 2022, to a licenced café opening 8am-6pm. We offer amazing all-day brunches, exquisite cakes and bakes, and thirst-quenching brews. On weekend days we are working with 3rd party vendors to deliver a range of different night-time food options, backed up by the Sticklebarn Taproom, offering our night-time visitors with an experience akin to our daytime offer.
The money we raise as a National Trust property goes directly into the landscape around us, funding conservation projects, protecting wildlife and preserving natural environments for all visitors to enjoy.
You’ll enjoy preparing food from scratch using fresh/seasonal ingredients and will be confident with creating bakes, making, soups, stews, sausage rolls and preparing & presenting food to order served directly to the customers over busy lunchtime periods.
You won’t be required to work nights, split shifts and will be off on Christmas Day as the property is fully closed to the public.
You’ll receive a bespoke induction on appointment - and further professional training & development opportunities are available.
Interviews: This is an immediate start; interviews will be held by appointment on receiving applications.
You'll need to be;
• Passionate about food, creative and proactive
• A good team player
• Aware of good working knowledge of Health & Safety compliance requirements
