 Join our team in Piscataway, NJ as an Automation Engineer!

The Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, crafting, building, planning, executing and closing automation and technology projects through multi-functional team collaboration and following Colgate Standards including Safety, Sustainability, Performance, Reliability, Finance, Security and Risk Management.

 Responsibilities:

Coordinates Technical Solutions

  1. Execute technical studies with end user and multi-functional teams to understand and accommodate requirements and needs.

  2. Develop, review and influence approval on automation and technology solutions that align with business objectives.

  3. Ensures the integrity of equipment specifications, layouts/designs, building and infrastructure construction, electrical and controls requirements and project documentation.

  4. Stays abreast of the latest technical developments and identifies potential applications for supply chain continuous improvement. Utilizes critical thinking, creativity, risk analysis, evaluates vertical integration and conducts benchmarking.

  5. Determines standards and specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance.

  6. Acquire quote and finalize supplier negotiation with support from Indirect Procurement team.

  7. Supervise equipment delivery from supplier to ensure quality, on time delivery and mitigate any potential issues or delay.

  8. Coordinate installation, EMO, Commission, Start up with supplier, end user, plant operation team, maintenance team, plant engineering team and others as required.

  9. Where required coordinate Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) with supplier, end user, plant operation team, maintenance team, plant engineering team and others as required.

  10. Coordinate Design Qualification, Installation Qualification, Operation Qualification and Performance Qualification with supplier, end user, plant operation team, maintenance team, plant engineering team and others as required.

  11. Prepare, share and archive final user documentation including, drawings, schematics, instructions, commented programs and the like. Use innovative ways to deliver content to hand.

  12. Ensures appropriate testing is conducted to verify that process/equipment meets design specification and that personnel are trained appropriately. Ensures expected metrics and KPIs are achieved on all projects.

  13. Participation and involvement in Continuous Improvement Reviews, Authority groups and other technical forums.

  14. Use Colgate information systems and new technologies such as SAP, Google tools, Capital Management, AVEVA, Tableau, digital workflow and training technology.

  15. Build visibility, data capture and analytical functionality into projects.

 

Coordinate project planning and execution and closing

  1. Participate in Project Management Plans and Processes.

  2. Project Cost Management.

  3. Project Schedule Management.

  4. Project Communication Management.

  5. Resource Management.

  6. Project Scope management.

  7. Project Risk Management.

  8. Manage project on site: safety, quality and visual communication.

 

Support Organizational Capability Development

  1. Document and update the project information per code and Colgate standard.

  2. Support the development project management process and keep it up to date.

  3. Ensures findings and standard methodology on projects are appropriately collected, communicated and applied.

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

At least 3 years of confirmed experience, knowledge & proficiency in the following areas:

  • Automation innovation, design & continuous improvement 

  • Project management

  • IT/OT Infrastructure.

  • AVEVA Wonderware, including MES.

  • PLC HMI SCADA design, programming & innovation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. SAP interfacing

  2. Web/Internet/Cloud/Google Data Studio development.

  3. App development and deployment.

  4. IIoT development and deployment.

  5. Data acquisition & Analytics.
