As Automation Engineer, your main responsibility is the management of the different DCS systems on site in terms of troubleshooting, implementation of modifications and improvements but also documentation, maintenance and training to the operators. You also play a crucial role in the mid and long-term upgrade and development programs of the DCS systems to ensure a reliable system for the different production plants. The site in Drogenbos is mainly a combination of Honeywell TDC3000 and ABB Freelance. The automation engineer is responsible for IT applications related to the DCS systems such as the data historian and alarm management systems. The increasing importance of cybersecurity and the implementation of the required actions to offer the requested protection level is part of the job as well. Responsibilities

• Assume the role of Project Manager for new projects or improvement projects related to the different control systems (DCS, Batch Recipe) and Manufacturing IT systems (Alert, Aspen)• Ensure long-term continuity and reliability of the DCS systems through identification of future needs in terms of software and hardware.• Development of a strategic plan together with the Engineering supervisor for upgrades and migrations.• Collaborate with other Project Managers and other Engineers (DCS, E&I, Mechanical, Civil, Process) for modifications related to DCS / Automated Batch Recipes.• The Automation engineer is often a member of the project team for Cap Ex projects and has the task to make the necessary modifications in the program code (configuration, testing, interlocks, sequences, batch recipes)• Assessment and improvements of manufacturing control systems with regards to external cyber threats. The Automation engineer is the contact person for global and local IT in this matter.• Assistance in troubleshooting and root cause investigation of SHE and quality related issues.• Continuous improvement of the program code• Maintenance of DCS related systems

Required skills and experience• 1-10 years of experience in the field of computer science and programming of code (preferably DCS related)• Resolving software issues during production (interlock activation, sequence stops, batch recipe blocked,…)• Resolving hardware issues• The IT world is constantly evolving which result in incompatibility issues between software & hardware.

Qualifications
