Job Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager you will, under guidance, implements programs within the functional area of Quality/Food Safety.  Support relevant Quality and Food Safety procedures. Oversee the daily execution of activities related area of expertise and focus.

You Will:

  • Help with designing and implementation of procedures within assigned technical area(s) of responsibility.

  • Participate on teams to assure implementation and adherence of QA plans and process improvement of our suppliers.

  • Perform assigned technical tasks/tasks associated with department procedures.

  • Gather and studies data to understand trends and issues and to make decisions related to product safety and quality in areas of assigned responsibility.

  • Provide technical support and analyze data in managing situations and issues relative to quality and food safety.

  • Interfaces/provide technical support to appropriate functions and employees to assure regulatory compliance, food safety and quality of company's products.

  • Work with company facilities to facilitate an ongoing relationship with packaging material suppliers.

  • Evaluate effectiveness and assure continuous improvement in assigned areas of responsibility.

You Have:

  • BS in Food, Biological or Chemical Science or related field with 1 year industry experience OR 3 years in quality or related scientific field

  • Knowledge of food safety and quality systems and manufacturing processes, technologies or other relevant responsibilities.

  • Familiarity in using continuous improvement tools (SPC, Capability Studies) and fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of government regulatory requirements in food packaging (GFSI, FSMA, FDA, and USDA)

  • Sound report writing

  • Strength in setting an example for others.

  • Troubleshooting experience

  • Data analysis

  • Investigative skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, walk and/or stand for up to 8 hours a day

  • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis

  • Pushing/pulling various plant materials and/or equipment

  • Will maneuver in cramped/confined spaces

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 8 hours per work day to include:  loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies 

  • Frequent bending and/or crawling; must be able to move safely and freely around machinery
