Job Summary:

You will manage the product development of Hardlines items for the Disney Junior, Disney Channel, Mickey & Classic characters and Pixar businesses. Your success is dependent on the capability to design and manufacture product to the highest possible standard.

Additionally, the building of positive peer, team and key stakeholder relationships is necessary in ensuring the highest quality, consumer-focused, trend-right product lines across all channels of distribution, (including licensing, flex business models, vertical and wholesale) that build brand equity, provide an outstanding experience for the guest, and meet financial targets.

You will report to the Senior Manager of Product Design

Responsibilities:

You Will:

  • Design, sketch, prototype (including managing art-to-product, 3D modeling, sample creation, fit sessions, and electronic breadboards, where applicable
  • Create trend-right, consumer centric product lines that feature market-leading innovation and provide price/value for the Disney guest and present on them.
  • Complete product and licensed packaging approvals through online systems and collaborative approval meetings, ensuring quality in character execution, in-depth storytelling, color, material, form and function while maximizing profitability, and onboarding new partners
  • Develop product mock-ups, compile line sheets for line reviews, create and partner on key stakeholder presentations, and retail pitch decks
  • Work with internal partners (Creative Design, Brand Merchandising, Licensing Commercialization, Sourcing and Tech Design, Global Product Design teams, BERGs, CBM, Legal, Business Affairs, Product Integrity, Integrated Retail, BPM, Public Affairs, D&I teams, Cultural Consultants) and external partners (Studios & Disney Channel Content Providers, Games, Publishing, WDI, Licensees, DTR Partners) to design and approve all products
  • Monitor competitors, product trends and new ideas and market dynamics
  • Research initial seasonal trends by category
  • Remain current on consumer trends and communicate opportunities where these can be applied
  • Work on multiple design projects simultaneously within deadlines

Basic Qualifications:

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in design related field (e.g. industrial design, product design, toy design)
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of toy product categories and product development (including, raw materials, plastic, textiles, print, pattern, graphic composition and manufacturing)
  • Negotiation skills
  • Outstanding product design skills (e.g. 3D product design, technical design, sketching, creative application and manipulation of art, final mechanical art)
  • Computer software skills (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, and 3-D modeling skills)
