The Cardiovascular Field Medical Regional Trainer (CV FM RT) embodies our medical mission by supporting Field Medical personnel in becoming the trusted partner of choice to a broad set of stakeholders, driving scientific exchange and collection of timely insights that can create measurable medical impact on patient outcomes, ultimately advancing science and enhancing patient access to our medicines.

This position is a field-based role. It is anticipated that the CV FM RT will spend 30% of their time in the field with field medical team members identifying training gaps, coaching/assessing field colleague performance and implementing training plans and strategies. The rest of their time will be spent collaborating with stakeholders and the CV FMLT to construct and execute a training plan that is aligned with the US medical matrix teams and meets CV FM team needs.

The primary role is to have a view of the training needs of the field medical team, with an eye to sharing content with other FM teams where applicable.

The CV FM RT is accountable for facilitating, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating CV FM training programs.  They will be accountable for the coordination of on-boarding for CV FM and will collaborate with CV FMLT to design and maintain an onboarding program.  Based on ongoing needs assessment and evolving data, the CV FM RT will develop, implement and update the CV FM training program on a quarterly basis. 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute new hire training, on-boarding and ongoing field-based training 

  • Build strategic training curriculum and identify learning opportunities to support the ongoing CV FM development and training in collaboration with US CV FMCS

  • Guide consistent regional training activities in support of national FM training plan

  • Partner with Medical Capabilities to leverage training for new processes, technology or soft-skills for FM function, FM capabilities and leadership capabilities

  • Leverage existing resources from HOM and commercial training where appropriate

  • Create or adapt training materials and tools that support CV MSLs in the effective delivery of product information and data to healthcare professionals

  • Evaluate training materials and programs, recommend ongoing training needs and modify programs based on input and approval from members of the CV FMLT

  • Support performance development plans

  • Represent medical as a key reference point for internal stakeholders and a regional reference for other MSLs (mentor or coach); demonstrate the ability to train MSLs by supporting with role play simulations and/or co-visits, while acting as a role model.

  • Manage new hire onboarding coordination and in-territory regional training activities for therapeutic and functional skills to accelerate field deployment of MSLs

  • Manage content development and execution of national training plan for emerging BMS and competitor products

  • Facilitate continuous improvement towards higher quality work and promote innovation within the local team

  • Develop and maintain CV FM Training Metrics & Dashboard

External Environment and Customer Focus:

  • Partner with MSL RAD/RDs on training needs

  • Continuously update own knowledge in treatment strategies, products, unmet medical needs, and scientific activities

  • Understand the competitive landscape and actively prepare CV FM team to address informational needs of customers

  • Contribute to development and delivery of scientifically meaningful medical programs/projects for the FM team in line with the local Medical and Field Medical plan

  • Serve as member of the CV FMLT and Field Medical Training team, providing input into field medical training and execution plans and feedback on field medical activities

Provide Medical Support and Training:

  • Manage training content development

  • Maintain and execute CV FM training plan

  • Primary point of contact for CV FM training resources

  • Will drive consolidation of training calls/resources and internal touchpoints

  • Represent medical as a key reference point for internal stakeholders and reference for other field medical colleagues (mentor or coach); demonstrate the ability to scientifically train colleagues by supporting with role play simulations and/or co-visits, while acting as a role model.

  • Provide Medical Support and Training to new CV FM onboarding team members.

  • Facilitate continuous improvement towards higher quality work and promote innovation within the local team, including through field rides and coaching reports

  • Support ongoing medical/scientific area and product specific training

  • Participate in all training activities for the FM team, including PI assessments and eAssessments

Required Experience:

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, PA, DN and/or Advanced nursing degree with field medical experience in Cardiovascular area or with a broad medical background

  • 3+ years pharmaceutical / biotech experience as a field ML or similar field-based position with a proven track record of success, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience

  • Travel required

Knowledge/Experience Desired:

  • Expert knowledge of therapeutic area and treatment landscape

  • Understanding of scientific publications, clinical trial design and process

  • Knowledge of the national healthcare and access environment

  • Knowledge of HEOR core concepts

  • Proficient in technology, including FM systems and platforms

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and comprehensively learn about new subject areas and environments

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work seamlessly across multiple matrix teams and stakeholders

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build and maintain internal and external partnerships

  • Excellent English language skills, spoken and written

  • Proven ability to work independently and act as a team player

  • Innovative thinker with enterprise mindset

  • Demonstrated ability to manage project timelines and gather feedback to continuously improve training

  • Proven ability to manage budgets and medical communications/training vendors as needed
