The Associate Director is a key role in developing the Specialty Pharmacy Insights & Analytics capabilities at BMS. This role is ideal for someone with experience and expertise in Specialty Pharmacy data, Trade Sales, Patient Access and Marketing Analytics. The position will act both as an internal consultant and an analytics lead.  The consulting aspects of the role include collaborating with Specialty Pharmacy/Trade Sales, Patient Access and Support Services (PASS), Brand, Business Insights and Analytics (BI&A)  team members, as well as matrix teams including Legal, Compliance, and Data Privacy, to define and answer key business questions, uncover performance issues and highlight inefficiencies.  The Associate Director will be responsible for translating these insights into actionable recommendations to help improve the patient experience, decrease time to therapy and increase Brand performance.  The analytics responsibilities include leading the development and maintenance of scorecards, dashboards and other tools to monitor and analyze performance metrics for the Specialty Pharmacy team across multiple inline, launch and pre-launch brands.

Key Responsibilities and Major Duties

  • Partner with the Specialty Pharmacy/Trade Sales team, Brand Leadership, Data Aggregators and BI&A Matrix team to define and track relevant KPI’s and deliver reporting and analytics that support strategic and tactical decision making
  • Consult with Commercial teams to deliver Specialty Pharmacy performance improvement recommendation across the product portfolio
  • Oversee development and maintenance of performance dashboards for monitoring key aspects of Specialty Pharmacy and Brand performance and Patient Journeys, including patient starts, adherence, persistency, time to fill etc. Develop & maintain SP-specific performance and quality metric scorecards for SP-facing QBRs
  • Enable seamless development, execution, and evaluation of ad-hoc requests. Manage ad-hoc requests to ensure all questions and investigations are researched and responded to appropriately to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee QA/QC for reporting and analytics deliverables, provide commentary on trends and key metrics and disseminate to appropriate business stakeholders, including Brand Steering committees
  • Ensure compliance through coordination with Legal, Privacy, Data Protection and Compliance teams for new Specialty Pharmacy program data, reports, and analytics related to new or existing service providers
  • Collaborate with Data Strategy & Analytics peers, BI&A Matrix, EIM/IT, PASS, and SP/Trade team members to deliver improvements in SP data quality and availability
  • Develop deep understanding of covered disease states, treatment landscapes, and market access
  • Continuously gather data and technology insights to identify gaps in quality, capabilities and coverage. Formulate and execute solutions to address identified gaps.
  • Manage workload prioritization of on-site/offshore consultant support and leverages other teams within BI&A and across BMS to successfully achieve business objectives
     

Qualifications and Competencies

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent required, advanced degree preferred
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a preference of at least two years of experience supporting specialty pharmacy, patient services, or similar role
  • Proven leadership in the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry. Understanding of analytical and insight generation approaches in the biopharma industry including descriptive analytics, business intelligence and reporting.
  • Broad knowledge of pharmaceutical data sources such as Specialty Pharmacy Data, 852/867 distribution data, Health System/Payer – Plan hierarchies
  • Operational experience with aggregation of Specialty Pharmacy and Patient Hub data, preferably in Immunology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Cardiovascular or Hematology therapeutic areas
  • In-depth understanding of data use cases in pharmaceutical access and reimbursement programs including patient journey analysis, time to treatment, program performance management and field alignment
  • Ability to draw inferences from disparate pieces of data, identify key findings, link to implications and provide recommendations in a digestible and business-friendly format
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse teams across organizational lines and structures and negotiate with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to drive decision making within the organization
  • Experience managing contracts and vendors as well as familiarity with procurement processes
  • Proficiency in analytic tools such as Excel, SQL, SAS, MicroStrategy & Tableau
  • Understanding of healthcare related regulations and their impacts on healthcare data usage
  • Strong creative problem solving skills to answer key business questions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced, deadline driven, entrepreneurial environment
