Summary:

  • Strong Engineering (Service Planning, Service Design, Service Transition)/Operations Skills.
    • Responsible for managing and supporting critical operational and/or design issues in partnership with operations team.
  • Provide 24x7 support operational support and be part of an on call rotation. Be point of escalation for IT related incidents
  • Responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting, and evaluating technology issues.
  • Self-Motivated, goal-oriented and problem solver with an action-oriented approach
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in systems engineering, VMware, Storage, Backup, Cloud and Computing Technologies.
    • Ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with various groups within the IT organization.
    • Lead and participate fully in the design, configuration, and documentation of IT Infrastructure.
    • Contribute to establishing policies, guidelines, and standards.
    • Understanding of IT principles and an ability to communicate technical concepts effectivity
    • Contribute to short and long-term planning and strategy as a member of technology governance.
    • Provide regular updates on all related projects and identify potential risks to management
    • Organized and capable of multi-tasking.

Required Skills/Experience: 

  • Strong diverse technical knowledge of server, storage, backup, operating systems, cloud (AWS & AZURE a plus), database and network infrastructures
  • Experience with major operating systems (Windows/Linux)
  • Strong Experience with VMware Virtualization platform experience including maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing performance analysis and tuning
  • Experience with HCI technologies such as vSAN and SimpliVity
  • Experience designing and building highly-available, high-volume environments that include disaster recovery technologies and data replication technologies such as Zerto and SRM
  • Experience with troubleshooting complex incidents and problems associated with IT infrastructure and technologies in a 24x7 environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effectiveness in meetings, presentations, and writing, and the ability to effectively build alignment and influence others in a matrix environment
  • Experience with Storage architecture, solutions, and technologies – Fiber Channel, NFS, CiFS, iSCSI.
  • Experience in Data Center functions (racks, power, sizing)
  • Experience to analyze and build business case for transformational initiatives
  • Proven track record of effective project oversight, estimating resource requirements and timelines, managing, and tracking multiple projects simultaneously, and delivering on commitments
  • Experience to analyze and build business case for transformational initiatives
  • Experience with a large to medium corporate environment preferred.
  • Experience with moving/migrating systems and data preferred.
  • Experience managing vendor delivery preferred
  • Pharmaceutical / Compliance experience a plus

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, math, or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in the Information Technology profession.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in infrastructure engineering and operational support
  • VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) preferred
  • Desired experience with AGILE and use of Jira a plus
  • SDLC a plus
  • ITIL certification a plus
