The Associate Director, Corporate Strategy candidate will support the Vice President (VP), Corporate Strategy and Senior Vice President (SVP), Enterprise Strategy in overseeing corporate strategy development at BMS, including the annual Enterprise Strategy to be presented to the Board of Directors, and key strategic initiatives at the Enterprise level.  This individual will synthesize and integrate data and analysis to frame problems and propose potential strategic options, as well as support development of compelling Board and LT level slides and whitepaper outputs to support strategic discussions. This role reports to the VP, Corporate Strategy and works closely with the SVP, Enterprise Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Enterprise strategy development and strategic planning, including development of Annual Strategy Review Board materials, working closely with Enterprise Strategy and Business Development leadership in support of LT and Board engagement.
  • Support major enterprise level strategic initiatives.
  • Synthesize data and other internal and external inputs to frame problems and propose potential strategic options related to enterprise strategic planning.
  • Partner with BI&A colleagues to source key data, analysis, and other supporting insights to inform and address strategic questions facing the Enterprise.
  • Track major external trends in the biopharma sector and apply learnings and analysis to develop a dashboard of key trends impacting BMS.
  • Support development of slides and whitepapers for LT, Board, and key strategic initiatives, including Annual Strategic Planning Process and strategic initiatives coming out of Board and LT interactions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience required.
  • Pharmaceutical, biotech, or related healthcare/life sciences industries experience required.
  • Background in consulting or strategy related role ideal.
  • MBA and/or other industry-related advanced business degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry landscape, issues, trends, and their business impact, as well as a good understanding of drug discovery, development and commercialization processes.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to conduct analysis in excel, to synthesize findings, and to ensure consistency and integrity of data and numbers.
  • Understanding of revenue forecasts and pharmaceutical industry financials.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and communicate findings and recommendations through slides and whitepapers.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects efficiently with a high degree of independence and consistently deliver commitments in a timely manner under pressure.
  • Ability to support analysis undertaken by other functions. Works well with and exerts influence on multi-disciplinary teams. Facilitates candid dialogue and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable work with multiple senior internal stakeholders to facilitate highly visible and time-sensitive enterprise strategy projects.
