As part of a team with two other skilled, dedicated and friendly Rangers and alongside several enthusiastic and passionate volunteers you’ll help to keep the fantastic grade 1 listed parkland at Chirk Castle in wonderful condition. Working in this amazing site with stunning views across the Cheshire plains and towards the Shropshire hills, come rain or shine, your love of the outdoors and nature will inspire others as you strive to ensure that the landscape is beautifully presented and continues to take our visitors’ breath away alongside ensuring that nature continues to find a home here.
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, including weekend work where required by the property.

Chirk Castle has over 480 acres of grade 1 listed estate parkland for you to explore and work in. With areas of permanent pasture, woodland, species rich wildflower meadows and a beautifully preserved section of the Offa’s Dyke. The grasslands are managed in conjunction with tenant farmers by grazing with both sheep and cattle.
The estate is located within the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest as an important habitat for rare invertebrates that live in dead and decaying wood, bats, grassland fungi and the wealth of veteran and ancient trees.
This is an exciting and challenging place in which to work, with opportunities to get involved which such projects as creating 6 hectares of species rich wildflower meadows right in front of the castle entrance or to help with the recreation of the tree planting scheme which aims to recreate the tree planting plan from 1760 when the estate was landscaped into the wonderful and beautiful parkland we see today.
