Role Overview:
Bechtel is seeking an Assistant Project Engineer, Mechanical Design Manager to support Project Cardinal in New Albany, OH. This position falls within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit. Role and responsibilities include:
- Assist the Resident Engineering Manager (REM) and the Project Engineering Management Team in the supervision of the engineering activities for the engineering discipline(s) as necessary on the project. Under the direction of the REM, assists in the planning and directing of engineering assignments for the project(s). Has responsibilities for interfacing with other execution centers (if utilized), interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating the assignments/tasks associated with the project.
- Work directly with our customer(s) and our senior management on matters relating to project engineering progress, quality, scope and technical/permitting issues.
- Direct the establishment of work process integration and systems implementation for the programmatic design process.
- Establish and maintain access to technical experts in the advanced technologies pertinent to the project and sets up channels of communication to bring this expertise to bear effectively on the engineering effort.
- Champion the creation of a work environment, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction on the project.
Responsibilities:
- Interface with the customer engineering lead to establish requirements, communicate progress, understand and resolve customer concerns.
- Assist with managing the engineering team to meet quality and schedule requirements for the production of the engineering deliverables.
- Provide technical oversight for the development of engineering deliverables for the project.
- Review and approve key engineering deliverables for the project including CAD models, drawings, specifications and supporting calculations.
- Report progress and status of the development of key engineering deliverables.
- Assists in managing work related to the Mechanical Process discipline in a semiconductor manufacturing facility.
- Coordinate and interface as directed with the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers and field supervision.
- Foster openness, trust, communication, teamwork, innovation, and empowerment among project team members.
Qualifications and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution and 10 years of Engineering experience.
- Professional license or registration in an engineering discipline.
- Minimum 2 years prior experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in work process development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experienced in BIM design and federated modeling requirements/processes.
- Experienced in the design of supporting systems, equipment layout and optimization for modular design considerations.
- Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to building design.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge in Mechanical / Process systems in a semiconductor manufacturing/ operations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Bechtel experience.
