The Role:

To put the customer requirements at the centre of our offer. To support the Merchandiser to maximise sales opportunity and profitability, by delivering a commercial level of sales and stock across all relevant regions and channels. To provide support to the Team with daily figure analysis, future sales and range planning, as well as communicating closely with the Buying team in line with the Critical Path. Responsible for managing and developing junior team members, in order to create a high performing team. Deputises in the absence of the Merchandiser / Senior Merchandiser

Key Responsibilities:

Merchandising & Planning

• Achieving department KPI’s  in line with strategy and department plan, maximising sales and profit

• Monitoring stock commitment and intake phasing in weekly trade / order signing meetings, ensuring all amends are actioned in a timely manner

• Reviewing actual versus planned stock levels and ensuring targets are met

• Supporting the Merchandiser with Weekly Sales and Stock Intake (WSSI), sales stock and Open to Buy (OTB) forecasting

• Managing line monitors, feeding back solutions to over / under stocked issues, ensuring the smooth running of continuity lines

• Identifying significant sales trends and implementing them promptly, using current / future sales data to ensure a balanced and commercial range with the Team

• Contributing ideas and solutions which you believe may have commercial gain

• Sound understanding of the Department’s current Customer insights, Market Share and opportunities

• Overall responsibility for sizing and ensuring this is checked

Trading

• Reviewing performance by profit block / key styles / weekly themes. Undertaking ad-hoc analysis of performance and reporting back to the Merchandiser

• Making trade suggestions by analysing data, identifying issues and sales trends to ensure maximised sales and profit

• Managing the price integrity, price change, promotion and markdown process in the system

• Completing lessons learnt analysis

Team

• Supporting and developing the Merchandise Admin Assistant (MAA), delivering relevant training and support when required and acting as a positive role model

• Developing an effective working relationship with the MAA, Assistant Buyer and Buying Admin Assistant, along with influencing decisions to ensure the best outcome for the department

• Creating a positive Team spirit

• Translating the BMD vision into clear goals and objectives for yourself

About You:

Knowledge and Experience

• Previous experience working as a Merchandise Admin Assistant / Assistant Merchandiser in Fashion Retail

Minimum level of education or qualifications

Fashion Qualification / Other degree desirable

Other Essential Skills

• PC literate – Intermediate / Advanced Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook

• Highly numerical and analytical

• Proactive with a practical approach to problem solving

• Fashion aware
