Assistant Manager-Dallas, TX
This is an exempt level position.
Position Summary:
Provides leadership, facilitates safety culture, provides work direction to terminal employees, administering policies and programs, coordinating such activities in the absence and in conjunction with the Terminal Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists the Terminal Manager in coordinating the terminal and provides direction to all terminal employees in Terminal Manager’s absence.
- Will perform the duties of all terminal employees daily including Maintenance, loading trucks, unload railcars melting, housekeeping and weekend work.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with terminal employees.
- Supervises production schedules to ensure that products are shipped on time, and in accordance with customer and ADM specifications.
- Works with all divisions of the company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
- Ensures that all safety procedures and policies are always observed by all terminal employees.
- Conduct safety meeting and Behavior Audits.
- Identifies training needs and participates in providing required training of employees.
- Participate in evaluating staffing levels by monitoring production levels of all employees.
- Participates in planning decisions, including the purchase of capital equipment, layout changes, production methods and material handling procedures.
- Control’s quality and cost of production, by evaluating “best management practicesâ€.
- Performs special assignment, initiating cost improvements and efficiencies.
- Monitors supplies and materials, and orders as needed.
- Trains employees on plant operational processes and works with them to develop safety and efficiency skills.
- Supports ADM core values and communicates company policies, procedures and objectives.
- Will be first point of contact for issues that arise on off hours beyond what the on-shift supervisor or maintenance can handle.
- Performs any other reasonable or similar duties as required.
- Supports, coordinates, and completes all required action items as set by the ADM COE’s. (Quality, Safety, Environmental, Etc.)
Job Requirements:
- Ability to climb stairs, perform some lifting, work with heights, bend, kneel, and operate equipment safely.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks
- Ensure plant aligns with all Safety, Environmental, and Quality guidelines
- Previous experience with food processing desirable
- Experience with GFSI compliance
- Interact with other departments to ensure that company policies are maintained
- Train and develop new skills in production level employees
- Supervise plant employees
- Ensure production is cost efficient
- Able to meet production deadlines with contract specifications
- Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
- Ability to team build
- Addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Inventory management
- Proficient in all programs of Office, include Word, Access and Excel
- Excellent written and verbal skills required
- Communicates effectively with employees at all levels
- Exposure to high humidity, hot and cold temperatures are possible
- Ability to bend, reach and crouch and climb ladders
- Ability to see variations in color
- DOT Compliance and logistics experience preferred
- Maintenance experience with pumps and pneumatic systems preferred
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, off schedule shifts as needed
