Hours: this is an annualised hours contract (780 hours pa) which works out at approx. 15 hours per week. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year
Newark Park stands proud on top of the Cotswold escarpment, looking down into the Ozleworth valley and to the Mendips beyond. The Newark estate is situated in an unspoilt corner of Gloucestershire, with barely a sign of modern life visible in any direction. The garden covers 10 acres of steeply wooded slopes with meandering paths leading down to the lake and pleasure ground.
You’ll assist in making sure that the gardens at Newark Park are maintained to a high standard using a range of sit on and pedestrian operated mowers to mow the grass, and helping with seasonal tasks such as hedge cutting. This role will include a range of practical horticultural tasks to develop, enhance and conserve the garden. You'll be helping with hard and soft landscaping and general maintenance of the garden, such as mulching, pruning, leaf clearing and weeding. You’ll support with the planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs, annuals and herbaceous plants.
You’ll also assist garden volunteers and support and help them to make the most of their time here. You’ll be expected to interact with the public on a daily basis, answering the many questions, or helping set up events when needed.
