Job Description

ENGIE are recruiting for an Assistant Estates Manager to be based within the Passive Fire Team in Birmingham. This is a full time role on a 3 year Fixed Term Contract.  On offer is a competitive salary and company benefits package.

The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of an extensive Passive Fire Protection Remediation project and implementation of an active fire solution.

The role is vital to ensure that the estate is maintained to a high and compliant standard, ensuring that all statutory requirements are fully complied with and documented for all services and facilities under the control of the contract.

What is your Day to Day:

  • Manage the day to day Passive Fire Protection work streams on behalf of Engie whilst interfacing with a number of construction, and non-construction, parties.
  • Collate all information related to the PFP work & appropriately organise and store records in line with Engie record keeping procedures.
  • Managing and directing staff in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the Construction Contractor/Project Company & Trust to agree access for the construction team’s contractor to carry out remedial works.
  • Carry out Authorised Person isolations, in relation to both electrical LV and Medical Gases, where required to enable work to be completed.
  • Ensure all ENGIE Human Resource and Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
  • Deputise for the Senior Project Manager Passive Fire Protection during absence from site as directed by the Senior Management Team.
  • Ensure that all works are being carried out in compliance with: Statute, Contract Requirements, Regulations, ACOP’s and Guidance (HTM’s).
  • Managing and resolving incidents of non-compliance across the project in line with Contract and Company Requirements. 
  • Ensure adherence and evidence of all Statutory Standards and Regulations and Department of Health requirements.
  • Responsible for bringing to the attention of the Senior Project Manager PFP and all Senior Management any unsafe working conditions, working practices, unsafe plant or equipment encountered during the execution of duties including reporting on the company AIM’s system.
  • Responsible for the execution of any other estates and facilities related duties in an emergency/urgent situation, as directed by the Technical Services Managers or Senior Management Team.
  • Participate in shift working where required to ensure the delivery of the PFP project.
  • To undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the department as requested by the Senior Management Team.
  • Responsible for maintaining comprehensive compliance records.
  • Carryout ENGIE's Management Safety Visits and compliance audits (MSV) across the project.

About you:

  • High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate with knowledge of CAFM systems and all Microsoft Office packages. 
  • Must be able to manage people, be self- motivating, able to work on own initiative, liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • A sound knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Construction Design and Management Regulations and other relevant statutory requirements will be required.
  • Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of technical and estates and building issues in the provision of construction, maintenance, and FM services
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.

Required Qualifications:

  • Electrical Installation – Approved apprenticeship with either: 
  • City & Guild 236 Part 1, 2 & 3 Parts A, B, C or 
  • City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1, 2, 3 or 
  • City & Guilds 2330 Level 2, Level 3, (Level 4 – desirable) or 
  • City & Guilds 2560 (2357) – Diploma
  • 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS 7671 – 2018 Amendment)
  • City & Guilds 2394 Testing & Inspection Certification 
  • City & Guilds 2395 Testing & Inspection Certification 
  • HTM-06-(02)(03) Authorised Persons for LV 
  • Hold Authorised Person (AP) status in both Low Voltage systems & Medical Gas.

What would be an advantage:

  • ONC or National Certificate in relevant area
  • HNC/HND in a relevant area
  • IOSH/NEBOSH
  • MEWP Training IPAF
  • Management experience
  • LV Knowledge & experience 
  • HV Knowledge & experience & Authorised Person for HV
  • Management experience in an NHS environment
