Job Purpose and Impact

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for delivering financial analysis and expertise for Cargill Starches, Sweeteners, and Texturizer’s business in North America (CSST NA). In this role, you will partner with commercial and functional teams to manage the integrity of financial data and financial statements, and ensure our assets are appropriately safeguarded. You will implement and manage internal controls across a key segment of CSST NA for financial control, compliance, and risk management.

Key Accountabilities

• Design and deliver effective financial reporting, including defining relevant business performance indicators and frequency, and ensuring technical compliance
• Apply accounting techniques and standard practices to classify and record financial transactions and prepare financial reports
• Identify and implement process simplification, standardization, and automatization of financial and risk reporting to improve effectiveness and efficiency
• Collaborate and assess information regarding business risks with functions across the organization
• Conduct initial analysis to estimate the potential financial impact of business activities
• Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Advanced data analytical skills for using spreadsheets or business intelligence tools
• Experienced leveraging financial and business systems to monitor business activities and aid in decision making
• Experienced working with multiple businesses or international business experience
• Minimum of four years of related work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Accounting degree or professional accounting designation
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Experience using accounting technology applications.
• Proven advanced data analytical skills for using spreadsheets
• Microsoft suite experience
• Experience with ERP systems SAP, JDE, Power BI
