Our Area Operations Managers make sure these values live and breathe in the pubs they are responsible for. They provide guidance, support and coaching to our Retail Operators in order to deliver exceptional financial and operational results and to ensure our pubs are the place to be within their communities.

You will be responsible for leading a team of self-employed operators in making decisions about how best to drive sales and service to the needs of the local community. You will be responsible for meeting financial KPI’s and hold budget responsibility for your area. You will advise your operators on the best ways to drive profitability for their business.

As well as working closely with your Retail operators, you will also build effective working relationships with central support teams such as customer service teams, recruitment, training, finance and marketing as well as liaising with suppliers and local authorities. Key Accountabilities: â€¢ Maximise the potential of our Retail operators to deliver operational excellence, developing their personal and business skills through training, coaching and mentoring. • Motivate each Retail operator towards an end goal which is of mutual benefit to them and Marston’s. • Review the Retail operators’ progress around achieving sales and profit targets through regular business development review meetings. • Ensure you have a people plan for your area, working closely with the resourcing team to identify and develop talent on your area through strong succession planning. • Get to know your competition by conducting regular networking activity to build a talent pipeline and to ensure future people needs are addressed and helping your operators understand that competition comes in different forms, not just other pub businesses. • Provide business advice in to Operators, being unafraid to tackle challenging situations and conversations. Find resolutions to conflict in both a management and a business relationship capacity. • Full P&L responsibility with a focus on driving sales and profit and delivering great service in every business. • Deliver a rolling programme of capital investment into our sites under pinned by commercial decisions on the type of investment that will work for Marston’s, our customers and local communities. • Embrace and drive understanding of our key trading formats ensuring Marston’s guidelines and procedures are met at all times. • Ensure compliance with the Pubs Code 2016
