Our funeral services play an important role in local communities, extending beyond the immediate needs of arranging funeral services, and supporting the bereaved at a very emotional time in their life.

The opportunity

This Area Funeral Co-ordinator role will involve travelling and working between a few of our local branches in Camberley and the surrounding area so you will need to have your own transport. Mileage and expenses are paid for. The Area Funeral Co-ordinator role is very varied so if you enjoy a regular change of scenery and working with different people then we would love to hear from you!

This is a permanent role. Hours are Monday Friday 10am 4pm (30 hours per week).

As an Area Funeral Co-ordinator, you’ll support families during a difficult time and help make them feel comfortable throughout the time you spend with them. It is important to understand their individual wishes when organising a personal and unique tribute to a loved one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome our clients, making them feel at ease, whilst guiding them through the process and the different options that are available.
  • Administration tasks Making the day perfect by organising the funeral arrangements chosen, this could include liaising with the florist, organising our transportation, burial / cremation choices and memorial options.
  • When a family wishes to visit their loved one in the reflection room, you’ll make sure that the experience is a respectful and truly memorable one.
  • You’ll be sensitive to the families' needs and provide them with a confidential and discreet service.
  • Look after the deceased in our care, from helping doctors with certification to checking the deceased’s personal effects.
  • High attention to detail by accurately processing funeral arrangements and completing all important and relevant paperwork.
  • Signposting clients to our qualified councillors at our bereavement support centre if they require extra emotional support.
  • Support our local communities, building strong relationships with them and with a chosen charitable cause. Acting as a trusted ambassador for our funeral care services

Key Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • IT literate and a competent user of MS Office Mainly accurate data entry.
  • Highly organised with good administrative and coordination skills.
  • Accurate and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills in person and on the phone.
  • Warm and empathetic with a caring nature.
  • Proactive and able to plan your time in both busy and quiet periods.
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure.
  • Full driving licence and own transport mileage and expenses are reimbursed.

Southern Co-op has been providing funeral care and support services across the south coast for over 75 years. We have over 50 funeral homes, 2 crematoriums, a natural burial ground and qualified councillors at our bereavement support centre who support our colleagues and families.
