Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of inter-continental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. As part of the Northrop Grumman GBSD nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration.

Position Summary:
Assist Senior Architects and Project Engineers in the execution of A-E services contracts. Preparation of original architectural designs layouts, details, drawings, and specifications for buildings. Coordinate and integrate design work between the architectural discipline and other engineering disciplines. Prepare procurement and subcontract requisition documents and perform associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations Utilize critical thinking to evaluate, select, and apply design skills and techniques to project related assignments. Responsibilities:
This role will support design development of the architecture and supporting equipment for the GBSD program project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Work with engineers and other technical disciplines in a team environment.
Knowledgeable of and performs standard discipline architectural activities on projects of relatively small size and complexity within the business line with minimal technical oversight. Coordinates technical issues with other departments on projects including contractibility requirements and reviews.
Plans architectural layout, prepares detailed architectural design and layout drawings for small structures and portions of major buildings.
Plans, coordinates or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations.
Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions.
Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements.
Development Design Drawings
Perform formal calculations
Sizes equipment and systems
Develop design configuration packages for configuration control and change management
Design Building Information Modeling and coordination with other disciplines
Leads coordination with other disciplines to ensure cohesive design
Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design solution
Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product
Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team
Travel up to 25% of the time to customer and project locations to coordinate electrical designs with team
Qulaifications and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
Level One: BS degree in Architecture, from an accredited university, with at least 1 year of relevant experience or in lieu of a degree 7 years of relevant professional experience.
Level Two: BS degree in Architecture, from an accredited university, with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience. Working towards professional registration US citizen Required.
Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings, calculations, and specifications for Architectural systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building systems.
US citizenship is required per contract requirement.
Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience with architectural design, production techniques, building materials, and construction methods or development of project deliverables.
Understands technical issues and cost related to selection of design features and unique architectural requirements. Knowledge of practices and procedures of NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, IBC, UFCs).
Perform code reviews and generate code compliance reports/ drawings
Skilled in oral and written communication
Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions
Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
Understanding of engineering planning and control methods
Experienced with producing a full, well-coordinated, detailed set of architectural construction documents
Ability to execute work independently and greater than 1 year of Bechtel service for consideration of working at other than designated location
Preferred Qualifications:
Experienced with coordinating a multi-discipline design team Proficient with REVIT based design environment to originate 3D model content and produce design deliverables in a multidisciplinary model.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Sketchup Experienced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite- Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Experience with developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact preferred
Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide
Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense
Necessary skills to present technical subjects with competence and confidence
Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university
