In order to support the National Crime Agency’s dedicated workforce, we currently have a number of exciting opportunities for experienced Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) registered clinical or counselling psychologists to join our Psychological team within the Occupational Health & Wellbeing setting.
In order to support the National Crime Agency’s dedicated workforce, as a member of the Psychological Service team within the Occupational Health & Wellbeing department, you will psychologically assess and case manage officers psychological health, wellbeing and resilience to aid the facilitation of our mission to fight serious and organised crime.
The Applied Psychologist will apply best practice methods, as well as develop, bespoke time limited interventions, when carrying out pre-employment / placement and routine psychological assessments. You will be expected to respond to the psychological requirements of a diverse workforce of approximately 4,500 officers and be flexible when responding to critical incidents, providing specialist, bespoke advice. You will aid the delivery of the People Plan enabling officers to be at their best and to feel safe to speak up. You will aid the dissemination of psychology through delivering presentations and writing articles and will work within a multidisciplinary team of Occupational Health Nurses and Doctors.
Key Responsibilities will include:
• You will have experience of (min. 3 years) and be able to apply best practice methods and develop, bespoke time limited interventions, when carrying out pre-employment / placement and routine psychological assessments. In addition to writing and delivering workshops and promotional material relating to wellbeing and mental health
• You will be expected to work as part of a dedicated team, in conjunction with other medical professionals, to ensure that the medical and psychological requirements of a diverse workforce of approximately 4,500 officers are met. Where possible and depending on business needs, you will also have the opportunity to develop pro-active interventions and engage in assignments within business areas across the agency
• A flexible approach is required, as there may be travel within the role depending upon business need as appropriate. Where possible this is planned in advance.
***All NCA officers must hold SC Enhanced upon entry as a minimum. To meet the National Security Vetting requirements for this role you will need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 out of the past 5 years. For more information please see the Candidate information Pack***
The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:
• Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling, Psychology or hold Chartered membership status with the British Psychological Society (BPS)
• Under current registration with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) as a clinical or counselling psychologist and have been registered with them for a minimum of three years.

If you are an active police pension member immediately prior to joining the NCA, you can continue your membership throughout your employment with us as if you were a serving police officer.
