Cox Communications, Enterprise Data and Infrastructure Services (EDIS) is looking for a team-oriented problem solver interested in supporting our business through data engineering, analysis, and collaboration. This role will partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders on ideas and solutions that impact operational results. SPECIFIC DUTIES
Work with a team to prototype, implement and enhance applications to tackle the big data, data science, cloud, user experience and automation needs for a variety of business domain and functional areas.
Work with cross-disciplinary product development teams to develop resilient, scalable, reliable, and visionary solutions to real-world business problems
Assist with the cloud deployment process and build the necessary tools to allow for rapid feature development, automate, monitor metrics, and implement disaster recovery/backup strategies
Aid with design, develop and maintain ETL pipelines for various business use cases to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality data
Collaborate with Data Scientists, business analysts and other data engineers to process complex data sources and productionalize data pipelines using machine learning models
Understands and uses advanced analytical techniques to model complex operations systems and processes to provide better and/or faster insights
Qualifications:
Minimum:
Student must be able to complete two to three rotations (Fall 2021, Summer 2022, and Spring 2023)
Functional knowledge of (at least one) SQL language and one of Python (preferred), Spark or R. Experience with writing software and implementing solutions in Java or Python
Basic knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and database platforms
Able to translate technical findings to the larger team in a manner that is easily understandable to those less experienced with analytics
Strong communication skills
Preferred:
Graduate degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Analytics, Engineering or closely related field.
Experience in cloud computing environments such as AWS (preferred), GCP or Azure
Experience in data life-cycle such as acquisition, transformation, organization, and delivery
